would you not vote for a candidate...

because of their religion?

I forget what channel it was, but they were showing a story on Mitt Romney (who happens to be a mormon) and how his religion may have an effect on a persons decision to vote for him. At one point they show MR go up to an older gentleman and say "How are you sir?" and the man replied "I am one person who won't vote for a Mormon."
I personally don't care what religion the person is, if I agree on certain things that they do or say then I will vote for them. What about the rest of you? would you not vote for them b/c of there religion?

not voting for a candidate soley based n their religuois belifes and customs is just wrong.. a sad show of discrimination and racism. Mitt Romney is actually my favorite republican, clearly religous views dont normally affect decisions in the white house. its just dumb and bigoted to not vote based on religion.

Ron Paul 08.

I shocked how many internet people like him, but it seems like he has no support in the polls.

I hate Mitt. He is my least favorite, with Rudy closely near him. Mitt is a hypocrite. He preaches for religious tolerance, calls secularism a 'religion' and then calls it wrong. He is a pandering fool. He will say anything to anyone to get their vote. I prefer someone that tells the truth.

And Ron Paul. Google him. Youtube him.

One of the extremely rare times I agree with Mr. Olbermann.

I think it's sad that people will still not vote for a candidate based on his/her religion. JFK faced this same crap back in '60. Unreal how people just won't let go of their prejudices and biases.

However, I do like for a candidate to have some faith. I would be uncomfortable with a candidate who doesn't believe in a higher power. I want a candidate who feels as I do - that someday, we will all be held accountable for our actions, even if not on this earth. An atheist candidate would not believe this and would potentially be quite scary.

I don't care just so long as the candidate doesn't let religion dictate decisions for them, the way some have. Not naming any names of course, but I think you can guess who I'm talking about.

And the only reason Ron Paul has little to no support in the polls is because thje poll system is pretty well rigged so that he won't. Paul and Democrat Mike Gravel have a lot of support, but with the polls and media being biased toward promoting the status quo instead of change, you'd never know it.

As much as I can't stand Romney (for the same exact reasons that Erin pointed out), I have to admit that the reason I am not casting my vote for him is in no way shape or form based on religious beliefs. IMHO, he sucked as a governor. I volunteered to be on his Governortorial campaign and he turned around and did basically the opposite of what he said he was going to do.

I agree.

Obama has some Spanish blood in him, but that doesn't make him facist does it? Arnold Schwarzennger's dad was one of the Austrians who was in the "Welcome Adolf Hitler" parade after Austria was annexed by Germany in the 30's. Does that automatically mean we should always keep an eye on him because he grew up with this kind of a background? Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't.

no, unless you walk around with the name B. Hussein Obama. We'll need to place ambulances in every city, ready for when he launches his first terrorist attack.

I feel uneasy about Obama(i couldn't see a Muslim president right now, maybe down the road but not now) Now that Oprah has his back, I'd for sure hate to see him in office.

Barack Obama is a Christian, not a Muslim.

I sometimes wonder, when I see people who are so "uncomfortable" with people of different races/nationalities/religions, how on earth are you a sports fan? The world of sports is a virtual rainbow of colors, nationalities, and religions.

kyy, you just don't get it.

Hussein is his middle name, and his last name sounds like Osama. That means he is Al Qaeda in disguise. He wants to bring down America, how can you not see that?

You're right, my bad. I think that falls under the "if it rhymes with" rule. ;)
