I need some one who is independent here. I know what I think as a Republican.

But do the Republican's stand a chance in the election?

No Republicans and no Democrats answer please.

Edit: and No Smart ass answers either, I am trying to learn a thing or two...don't be a dick

Well they have a "chance", everyone has a chance. The Democrats have to be the favorites at this point though, the Republicans really analled your country over the past 8 years and I think you guys are finally realizing you need a change.

Well we need a change right now. Its going to take 8 years of Democrats doing things to make the country unhappy, before we are ready for a change again. Its a checks and balance thing.

This is why I really like the Canadian government. If the party in power is blowing chunks, the opposition can start a vote of non-confidence, which if passed starts a new federal election.

The Republicans only have a decent shot if they nominate Ron Paul. Since that won't happen, no, they stand little of a chance.

If Hillary is the democratic nomination, I believe a Republican will be the next president. I think the Hillary nomination in the one thing that could unite most Republicans.

Ron Paul is barely making it through the primaries. Why would he be the only chance for Americans? I personally can't stand the guy, and know many others the feel the same way.

Ron Paul is the only one who stands for real change. Obama and the rest are all on the CFR, they will all be no different than Bush. America needs to face this fact.

The reason Paul is the only one with a chance is because of his anti war stance. He's more against the war than most of the democrats really. In a general election, people will only have a choice between two anti war candidates. Some more independents and Libertarians will flow to Paul. Plus he's not going to lose the war mongering south vote b/c, they're going to choose the state's rights candidate over the big gov tax raiser. The rest of the Republicans are Bush 2.0. And let's face it, Bush has lost a lot of Repubs since 2004 who aren't going to come back for more of the same.

PLUS, when Paul doesn't win the nomination, which he probably won't, he could easily run as an independent or Libertarian, and take a lot of votes from the Republicans. That hasn't happened really since Perot in 92, and look who won that year...

Bottom line: eventhough he won't win and the media will pretend like he's not there, Paul is going to be a factor I think, b/c he has the most money, and it's been proven, if he needs money for a 3rd party run, his supporters will give it to him. Which will probably assure a dem in teh White house.

Its going to be really scary if Obama gets elected. I mean...that might possibly be the worst thing to happen to this country.

You're a republican. Although I don't like Hilary, I do support Obama just because of some of the minor views and I support the democrats just for the anti-war stance right now. Some republicans I just can't stand.

Well I'm finally registered to vote. As far as this goes I'd say it depends on who gets the Dem. nom. If it's Hillary then yes they do but if Obama gets it then I think he'll be our next president.

Hanley Ramirez doesn't make errors--the ball is just afraid of him.
Shadez was the first man to walk on the moon... with sunglasses on.
In rookie ball, he drove a ball to deep centerfield, only to be informed he had been traded on his way to first base. So, he sprinted to the wall and robbed himself of a homerun.
He can turn a man to stone just by looking at him without his shades.
Was pointed at when Babe Ruth supposedly called his shot.
The June 24th game between the Marlins and Yankees was not, in fact, called by rain as was previously reported. Hanley had plans. And by plans we mean a date. With a girl. A babe if you will.

You should check out the good Dr. Ron Paul.

If only Paul was the republican nominee.

What would they do then? The big issue is the war in iraq and the democrats and paul support no-war

If I were an American I'd vote for Paul or Obama. None of the other candidates interest me. All the other Republicans are basically morons, and Hillary is such a phony it's not even funny.

Obama. He seems like the most fit candidate this election (although that really isn't saying much, and it usually doesn't say much). I think it's good for international relations too, because if countries see that America has finally elected someone other then an old, white dude as its president, they might see America as more progressive and open-minded.

Obama doesn't have enough experience for me. Plus he is only looking good because he doesn't say anything. Plus he is muslim...not the best thing for this country IMO.

For the 8 millionth time, Obama is NOT a Muslim, he is a Christian. But even if he were a Muslim, would it matter? All you good Constitution-quoting Republicans seem to forget this country was founded on FREEDOM OF RELIGION.

I worry that if Hillary gets the nomination, she can't pull the "middle" vote. People have very extreme feelings about Hillary - they either love love love her, or hate hate hate her. And to win a presidential election, you need to be able to win over the "undecideds" and "independents".

Increasingly, Americans' top concern is no longer the Iraq war, but the economy. It's a question of who the voters will blame for the recession - the Republicans or the Democrats.

As far as an Independent run, I think New York's billionaire Mayor Bloomberg could make the race very interesting.

Haha I agree. My mom likes her and a lot of others do too; however, my dad says shes the Devil (he's Independent) and I know many others who despise her.

I don't think Bloomberg will make any difference. Once again, I have to ask, what does the guy stand for? He used to be a Democrat, then he became mayor as a Republican, now he's an Independent? Does this sound similar to Lyndon LaRouche, or is it just me?

It doesn't matter if Obama is Christian or Muslim except to the idiots out there who still continue to insist that this country was founded by God-fearing Christians on Christian principles. News flash: most of the founding fathers were Unitarians, Universalists, and secular humanists. If they were Christian, most were very open-minded ones. Thomas Jefferson once said "And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter." Does this sound Christian to you?

Anyways back to the original point I was trying to make, I'm not exactly sure how the Democrats can be blamed for this recession. Unless we go by the republican logic that Reagan was 100% responsible for the economic boom of the 90's, and Clinton is to blame for today's gas prices. The economy goes through cycles, and we're in a pretty shitty one right now. But it's evening out a bit for the prosperity we saw 10 years ago. Granted politics goes through cycles too, and we're stuck in the end of 8 years of Republi-crap to make up for 8 years of Demo-crap.

Third parties won't make a difference this year, because 90% of the sheeple will continue to support their party blindly, no matter who they throw out there. You could see Martha Stewart vs. Howard Stern in the 2008 election, and people would still rigorously campaign for both. It's a joke. The candidate means nothing. It's all about the party. Washington warned about those who "serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation the will of a party" in his farewell address. Sounds like what we have today, doesn't it?

This country is still divided pretty well. But, I wouldn't say the Republicans have no chance. My brain tells me Hillary has no chance, but something else tells me that she would likely win (possibly the culture of corruption that's permeated mainstream politics since at least the JFK administration). And also as has been stated here, it really doesn't matter. We're screwed either way. All the major candidates are members of either the Trilateral Commission, Council on Foreign Relations, or the Bilderberg Group. Probably Freemasons too, if the truth is known. Every president and presidential candidate comes from the same small pool. This year is no exception.

It's just fun to sit back and watch the gyrations people go through to bullshit themselves into thinking anyone in this election will make any kind of difference. They won't.
