I was listening to mike and the mad dog about a day or two ago and Mets fans were calling up saying they had the best 3-4 in baseball. They got trashed by both hosts, mad dog even going out and saying he'd take Maddux and Prior over Perez and Maine. It got me thinking who has the best 3-4 in baseball? I don't really have any ideas, but I like the Giants with Lincecum and Lowry. Dodgers have a good one with Billingsley and that new asian pitcher. |

I know they don't know anything about prospects, but I enjoy when mets fans call up saying stuff liek Jon Niese is the next kazmir and they should trade him for BJ Upton or Perez is the best 3rd starter in baseball. I also enjoy when Russo's dad calls in and Russo goes on and on about how his daddy never took him to a Yankees game when he was a kid so now he hates the yankees to get back at his dad. |

Well for the Giants I think its Zito- Lowry as their 3-4. Cian and Lincecum are basically their best two pitchers. Maine and Perez is good, although I don't think they are the best though. But I don't get who their 2nd pitcher is. Pedro didn't pitch all of last year pretty much and El Duque is unreliable at this point as well. I'd probably put Maine as their No. 2 at this point I guess. That would make their 3-4 as Pedro-Perez, which is a bit more troublesome. It could be the Rays if they bring up Price od Davis to tag along with Garza. |

This is a tough one. I'd say these are the top five: 1.) Padres: Maddux & Wolf (fantastic) 2.) Red Sox: Buchholz & Wakefield/Lester (youth and a veteran) 3.) Tigers: Rogers & Willis (if Willis can survive the AL) 4.) Phillies: Kendrick & Moyer (cunning and treachery) 5.) Yankees: Hughes & Mussina (if Moose can bounce back) Honorable Mention = Dodgers: Billingsley & Kuroda |

The money they are paying Zito, he will not be their 3rd starter. I think Cain is the opening day starter followed by Zito. Cain has earned that right, thats for sure. |

Maine > Maddux Perez > Wolf Maine > Buchholz (Nothing's been proven) Perez >>>>>>>>>> Wake Maine > Rogers Perez > Willis Maine > Kendrick Perez simply is 100x better then Moyer Maine > Hughes (once again, nothing proven) Perez > Moose |

Willie is still debating whether or not to use Santana or Martinez as the opening day starter. If it's not Martinez, he's the number two. |

Moose isn't our 4th....I'd say Kennedy is before him. At least kennedy can throw in the 90s with his pin point command. |

Wille would be retarded if he still is thinking that. Pedro could start out as the No. 2, but I don't think he is their second best pitcher anymore. Again, Zito may get the nod as the second starter, but he isn't the second best pitcher on the Giants. There are various factors that go into a rotation, things such as similar stuff pitchers being split up and lefties breaking righties. Hughes maybe the second best pitcher for the Yankees, but Pettite will probably be the No. 2 starter because that breaks up the righties. |

Well its harder to gauge if you go by talent. The conversation M&MD were having was which had the best 3-4 in the rotation. |
