A lot of people are overlooking the Braves, its a shame people don't understand how good they could be.

The yankees are a surprise team, and an underrated team, because it's amazing how many people are writing the Yankees off before the season even started.

GO YANKEES! *NYY*

braves dont really get overlooked since they won't make the playoffs imo, they got the mets who should win the division and the wc spot coming out of the nl west.

I love the potential for the bullpen and I'm ok with the rotation.

A team shouldn't be underrated with that kind of money to get players.

I don't have a problem with anyone else. If people want to belittle guys like A-Roid, Jeter, Abreu, Matsui, Pettitte, Mo, Posada, Cano or Wang thats their problem.

That's what I'm saying. With names like that, they shouldn't be called sleepers. They should be expected to win it all every year. (Which I'm sure they are by Yankee fans)

Eeryone likes to talk their smack about the Yankees. Its getting that way with the Mets more and more now as well too, but its still strong with the Yankees. I expect them to win with a triple-A lineup and jose lima as their ace but if your a fan thats what you got to do. If not its not going to be fun. I belittle teams like the Red Sox, which I can not image how they are favored over the Yankees, with this team played like .700 ball from july on.

See, I prefer not to "talk smack" about the Yankees. They're clearly one of the two best teams in MLB.

The thing is, every Yankees fan up to and including Hank Steinbrenner is "talking smack" about the Red Sox. The Red Sox are that other best team...one of two outstanding teams who play each other so many times that their win counts don't exceed 100 each and every year (except 2006 for Boston ;) ).

Potential surprise teams? Either the Yankees or the Red Sox might surprise by dropping out of Wild Card contention by the trading deadline.

But I doubt it.

***

Surprise teams? Obviously the Rays; I'd include the Blue Jays; I think that the A's are going to be a whole lot better than many people think. In the NL, the Central and West are so weak that it's tough to have any surprise teams. In the NL East, yeah, the Braves should hang tough with the Phillies for a while, and if the Mets don't make it a runaway Atlanta could be in the chase late.
