Every Free agent ballclub signs is an free agent tax 20% on every dollar when clubs sign free agents. So that way it limits the amount of free agents a ball club gets.

Well Florida doesn't seem to give a shit about it's baseball team.

But I don't think the idea is all too good.

That's pretty stupid really, because then they could sign a FA and not worry about it because the cash will just go back in their pockets. Why punish teams that market well and make money and reward teams that aren't run well, and screw their players like the Rays who aren't gonna call up Longoria til halfway through the season so they get an extra year of arbitration out of him.

Under steve's idea, the Yankees would've had to fork over roughly $5.6 mil for re-signing A-Rod and trying to make their team better. That's $5.6 mil going to the Marlins new ballpark that, starting in 2011, the Yankees will only play in about once in six years. And because the Marlins, baring any unforseen circumstances, will still be spending close to nothing and will be in the bottom 10 in revenue, the Yankees will get back $0 of that $5.6 mil in either luxury taxes or revenue sharing.

Give me a break!

There will never be a salary cap, maybe a cap on what a player can earn. Football might get rid of their cap.

If we can get a QB I mean I real one that has a strong arm can throw 50 yards down the field and can run like vick then we have a real shot going deep in the playoffs.

A city like Baltimore will never be able to be the Yankees of a salary-cap-less NFL. Their market is only 9 million and shared with Washington, so about 4.5 million people for each team. More people means more money to spend. That "Yankees" spot is reserved for the larger markets, and places like Baltimore could never compete with the two New York teams (23 million over 2 teams), Chicago (10 million), Dallas (8 million), and New England (7 million).

The NFL will never eliminate the salary cap. Never. It's worked out too well for them to ever want to abolish it.
