Who do you guys think will win the AL and NL MVPs?

I would've gone with Carlos Quentin but with his injury I say no. For the AL Ill go with Hamilton. Hes not having a great year with a .301 AVG and 31 HR. Hes having a very good year. I think he'll win it mainly for his 121 RBI though, thats what pulls him away from the other contenders. He hit HR, hit a good AVG and with loads of RBI.

For the NL I go with Albert Pujols, easily. Seriously batting .360 with 31 HR and 93 RBI those are insane numbers. Hes hitting for AVG and is going to win the batting crown, Pujols is just amazing.

I agree with that completely.

I don't think Hamilton has a shot with the Rangers out of contention. For a non contender to win the MVP his numbers would have to be staggering like Pujols' numbers. Hamilton's numbers are not staggering, although he'll probably get extra votes because his story's cool.

Doesn't really matter who wins AL MVP cause everyone knows Quentin was the real one.

Let's look at the numbers:

Kevin Youkilis

.315 .386 .565 25HR 97RBI

Justin Morneau

.310 .387 .519 22HR 113RBI

makes you think, those numbers aren't really different except for

Homeruns -> Youkilis
RBI -> Morneau
SLG -> Youkilis
AVG -> Youkilis

In all likelihood, it will be Hamilton and Pujols. However, it would not surprise me if Carlos Delgado came in a close 2nd. He has led the Mets to many victories and has hit 24 or 25 homeruns since June 27th. He has 33 on the season as of now and 100 rbi. Though his batting average is only .262, he has been on fire since Manuel has taken over.

avy/obp/slg/ops
before june 27:
.229/.306/.396/.702
season stats since:
.260/.346/.494/.840 (does not include tonight's stats)

Yeah but I dont see how Delgado wins it over Pujols, his stats are amazing batting .360 with 30 HR. Hes also gonna finish with 100+ RBI.

Would be amazing to see Delgado win it this year. He's been on an enormous tear really since that 9 RBI game in the Subway series. I was at the night game of today's doubleheader. He hit 2 more bombs & drove in 4 to give him 100 RBI for the year. Obviously AVG between him & Pujols is stark, but I think he has a pretty good chance given that they make the postseason & this continues...

Pujols, Berkman, Hanley, Holliday, Reyes, Chipper, Utley, Ludwick, Braun, D. Wright, Beltran, Mclouth, Hardy, Uggla, McCann, Soto, Doumit, DeRosa, S. Drew, Rollins, C. Lee, A-Ram, A. Soriano, Guzman, Manny, D. Lee, Burrell... all more desrving

.850 OPS with 1 SB from a 1B is not deserving of MVP... or anywhere close.

I'm just saying if he had 20 SBs or something that OPS wouldn't be as bad

Pujols: Yes
Berkman: No
Hanely: Possibly
Holliday: No
Reyes: Maybe
Chipper: LOL, no
Utley: Probably
Ludwick: Nope
Braun: Yes
Wright: Fuck no
Beltran: Fuck no
McLouth: No
Hardy: Lmao, no
Uggla: No
McCann: Nope
Soto: Possibly
DeRosa: Are you kidding me?
Drew: What?
Rollins: you've got to be fucking joking.
Lee: Nope.
Ramirez: No
Soriano: Nope.
Guzman: WHAT?
Manny: Yes
Lee: LMAO
Burrell: No.

Seriously. You have any idea of what you're talking about? Delgado was hitting .205 two months into the season. He's probably been the best player in the MLB since then. THe Mets would be under .500 without him.

oh yeah and I didn't name any pitchers....
Delgado's 29.3 VORP ranks 68th among batters

anyway

Berkman: No
1.020 OPS with 16 SBs, 166 OPS+
.850 OPS with 1 SB, 123 OPS+

I think the top is more valuable

Holliday: No
.965 OPS, 25 SBs, 143 OPS+
.850 OPS, 1 SB, 123 OPS+

Chipper: LOL, no

yeah LOL that 1.020 OPS sure looks bad

Ludwick: Nope
yes

Wright: Fuck no
Fuck no? Why? Is it Delgado's worse VORP, worse SLG, worse OBP, worse OPS+, worse SBs, worse what?

Beltran: Fuck no
yes

McLouth: No
yes

Hardy: Lmao, no
Lmao they are basically putting up the same numbers except Hardy's at a harder position playing good defense at that position

Uggla: No
yes

McCann: Nope
134 OPS+ from a catcher is very valuable

Soto: Possibly
124 OPS+ from a catcher is also valuable

DeRosa: Are you kidding me?
123 OPS+, 6 SBs, plays all over the field

Drew: What?
This ones close, but he's got a 33.4 VORP, Delgado 29.3

Rollins: you've got to be fucking joking.
nah

Lee: Nope.
yeah and that's with missing the rest of the season

Ramirez: No
yeah

Soriano: Nope.
yup

Guzman: WHAT?
sure, he's surrounded by Willie Harris, Milledge, and Kearns. JESUS FLORES leads the team with RBIs and is hitting .256 with 8 HRs.

Lee: LMAO
a little worse at hitting, but more SBs and better defense

Burrell: No.
yes

Okay MVP is the Most Valuable Player of the season. Not the Most Valuable Player from June On.
