Because being in a loaded offensive lineup doesn't translate into better stats.

Oh I haven't thought about it hard enough to say who I think deserves it, I just think Merno will win. He wasn't even on my map in '06, and this year he's a clear frontrunner. At this point I wouldnt be pissed if Youk won tho.

Those 12 runs more that the Sox have scored than the Twins are definitely boosting Youk's stats in a disgusting manner.

Youk's been better than him at everything pretty much.

How so? Morneau has more hits, runs, doubles, RBI's, less K's, and more total bases. Not to mention Morneaus been about 2.9 wins better than the average player whereas Youkilis is only about 2.4 wins better than the average player.

The twins are hitting a godly average with RISP.

The Sox have had way more baserunners.

Gimme 2 seconds to back that up with stats.

Joe Mauer and Jason Kubel<<<<JD Drew, Manny Ramirez, and Mike Lowell
(those are who have hit in front of and behind Youk and Morneau for most of the season)

Boston's a full .14 points ahead of Minny in OBP.

And about .100 points ahead each in OPS and SLG.

Yeah, and the RISP and RISP w/ 2 outs for both of them cancel out.

.....

Someone find Minny's team RISP. It's like .360 or something.

Drew, Lowell, and Manny have all missed HUGE chunks of the season, and Youk was still consistent always, with an .857 OPS being his lowest for a single month (April).

Because BA, OBP, SLG, OPS makes you more valuable to your team instead of the actual numbers that do like rbi's and runs? I'd rather have more RBI's and runs from a guy than a slightly better BA and OBP and a much better SLG but doesn't really mean anything compared to the other numbers. Bottom line, Youk is not better in even most of the stat categories, and even the ones he is better in, it's not by too big of a margin.

I'm pretty sure that when you have a better AVG, SLG and OBP than someone, it's not your fault that you have less RBI's and runs. Pretty common sense.

Well when the guy hitting in front and back of youk have been better hitters than the hitters hitting around morneau, not really.

Again, considering Youk has a higher BA, SLG, and BA with RISP than Morneau does, and has a higher OBP, it's blatantly obvious that it's not his fault if he's got less runs and RBI, not really sure how you can even argue that.

NL MVP: Ryan Howard
Biased...of course...but Howard has lead the Biggs in nearly every power hitting statistic all season. I would give Pujols a close 2nd place vote...but the Phillies heading to the post-season gives Howard an edge.

Howard: .248/47/142
Pujols: .350/34/108

Howards got the power numbers over Pujols but overall come on. Overall Pujols is having a much better season.

Another thing that is interesting is that Howard has 196 strikeouts and Pujols has 53 lol.

I just looked up the AL leaders in OPS w/ runner in scoring position, and I now essentially support youk for MVP.

bitchass

I'm just going based on what they have done, hits, doubles, runs, rbi's, over ba, obp, slg because better hits, doubles, runs, rbi's than ba, obp, slg usually will make you the more valuable player to your team. like player a has a .310/.380/.540 20 HR 100 RBI 95 runs line and then player b has a .305/.365/.515 25 HR 130 RBI 125 runs line, player B has probably been more valuable.

Look at the average. Plus he's still having a good HR/ RBI season on top of an amazing average.
