exactly, the delivery uses his whole body effectively, and his arm is only in it for a ride. Listen to pitching experts on what they have to say about Lincecum before you lolwut on it.

Exactly, he's perfected this delivery and I don't see it harming him anytime in the near future.

I've listened to them and they say that his delivery is too whip-like and harsh, and will catch up to him.

I'm sorry, they don't know shit about deliveries then

Well it is true and it could happen, most likely when he's around 30 or so though.

LOLWUT Lincecum's high injury risk is the reason he was picked 10th in the draft, not first. He has been a huge injury risk his whole life. I followed him really closely in college because he went to UW. That didn't just go away.

Then why did you agrue with me in the first place? I said he'll start to feel it around his 30s unless he changes his delivery. A little league pitcher pitches much less then a major league pitcher, and throws less pitches. So do most minor leaguers. The Giants are using Lin wayyy too much and are keeping him out there for far too many pitches per outing. This is much different then when he was a little kid I'd imagine, so even if he had the same delivery then, it wouldn't have been the same amount of stress on his elbow and his arm.

I'm arguing that I don't think it will happen soon, and I was just saying if it ever happens then it will most likely happen around 30 or so.

did I ever say that I know better than them? no, I think that there are better pitching experts than major league scouts out there.

Lincecum has no scapula loading, has elastic energy, he uses his explosiveness very well, he almost flies off the rubber generating much momentum. It's a hell better delivery than a pitcher like AJ Burnett.

Ok, well we both say around early 30s so I still don't know why you saw something wrong with my argument....

...anyways...

I think Lincecum will last until around his mid 30s, mainly because of his height leading to rapid decrease in velocity starting from mid 30s. But before that he'll be dominant. Just my opinion.

Can you tell me these pitching experts who say his delivery will cause him no harm over his career please? I'd like to see their reports, because in every scouting report I see on him, it says that his delivery will cause him problems down the road.

but the content is really in their DVDs and e-books which will cost you some money. They each have exclusive programs just for breaking down Lincecum's delivery.

Yea Dick Mills knows more than pretty much any pitching/baseball expert.

He will get injured in 2009 if the Giants keep analling him with that work load of 138 pitches. That's ridiculous.

Your bud Paul Nyman has a link on his site that says

Updated Tim Lincecum Analysis

A month or so ago I came across some super slow motion video of Tim Lincecum. As a result, I have updated my analysis of the pitching mechanics of Tim Lincecum. Based on what I see in this video clip, I am somewhat less optimistic about Tim Lincecum's long-term prospects."

It leads to an article breaking down Lincecums delivery piece by piece and at the end (and throughout it), it says how "his arm action is a bit borderline, and he shows signs of a timing problem", and his "Pitching Arm Side (aka PAS) elbow gets higher than does Greg Maddux's; it almost reaches the level of his shoulders, which makes me a little nervous."

"Frame 59 bugs me a bit because in it your can see a fairly distinct Inverted L and a form of breaking the hands with the elbows, neither of which I like...it's a cause for concern because it can lead to a timing problem and elbow and/or shoulder problems."

Posted Image

"The thing to notice is that Tim Lincecum's GS (glove side) foot has planted but his PAS (pitching arm side) forearm is only horizontal. Given that, as is typical, his shoulders start to rotate at this moment, this means that his PAS upper arm will externally rotate especially much and hard. This can significantly increase the load on both the elbow and the shoulder."

"Tim Lincecum extends his GS knee through the release point. While this can help to boost a pitcher's velocity, I'm not a fan of this because I know it can lead to knee and hip problems and think it can increase the load on the elbow and the shoulder."

"The Bottom Line
While I still have tremendous respect for Tim Lincecum, what I see in the high speed film of him makes me nervous. He's got some Inverted L in his arm action, which can create a timing problem, and I see a timing problem in the high speed film. All of that puts his elbow and shoulder at risk."

So now this guy has concerns about his delivery too...

oh my bad, I did not see that in the e-book I ordered, well it's not about whip-like and harsh motions.

No it doesn't say that, because he didn't say it, it was someone else. Nontheless, people are realizing that that type of delivery, although adding like 10mph to someone's velocity can cause them harm. He will be unhittable in his prime no doubt though.

I don't care if you have god-given perfect mechanics......if you a are human, your arm will get fucked if your throwing 125 pitches a game and even going close to 140 like last night. I don't think his arm will get effected now...or even 2-3 years down the road.....but when he gets to 30ish, he'll start feeling forearm tightness, which will lead to even worse shit. I mean....haven't people learned the Mark Prior lesson? Prior was said to have "good" mechanics. I couldn't care less about mechanics if your throwing 140 pitches a game, because in the end the result will be the same. Your arm will fall off.
