Howard's 46 HRs or whatnot would be impressive if he didn't play in the biggest hitter's park in baseball. Plus he hits .240 and strikes out 200 times.

Manny is a beast with the dodgers.

whether if its the weak NL...
or the fact thatt the dodgers players are just dull...

there is no way in hell or heaven you can ignore the impact one player has had on a team balancing on the tightrope of greatness or utter suckiness...

they should just invent a first half and second half MVP...
sheesh....

Howard/Pujols is basically the 2008 version of the Andruw/Pujols MVP race in 2005. Lots of homers vs. better all around numbers

2005:
Andruw Jones .263, 51 HRs, .922 OPS
Albert Pujols .330, 41 HRs, 1.039 OPS

2008
Ryan Howard .248, 46 HRs, .873 OPS
Albert Pujols .353, 34 HRs, 1.098 OPS

Pujols won in 2005. Looking at the numbers Pujols in 08 is better than Pujols in 05 and Andruw in 05 is better than Howard in 08 (not to mention Andruw played GG CF, where Howard just plays 1B), so if the voters vote the same way Howard probably won't win.

Manny Ramirez
VORPr (VORP per game)

Red Sox = .367
Dodgers = .824

Chase Utley's VORPr is .359 and Wright's is .354, so I wouldn't say that .367 is low, but .824 is extremely high.
