I'm thinking about getting GW2. It's $45 for the game and a bunch of other stuff; there was a simpler pack but it's only $5 less. Should I? If I should, do you play? |

If you're want content, it is worth the $45. If you're looking for multiplayer interaction, most of the community is either in the WvWvW thing or in the high level single player stuff. |
| Ask me any question and I'll try to answer in the best way possible... for me at least. | |

I play, actively now. It's definitely worth the money, especially with no monthly subscription. And if you're worried about multiplayer interaction, don't make the mistake Inquire did. Join the Tarnished Coast server. You'll be set. |

Fanny Slap it, why not. Display Name: VectorVineyard.8379 IGN: Horace Dogooder I'm taking Slender's advice and going with this Tarnished Coast server, unless there's a server that's closer to my area. Edited by Laharl, Sep 29 2013, 03:09 PM.

Its a fun game. But, despite being online. It seems to *FEEL* more like a single player game. You don't really make parties with people, you just run around a world map doing 'events' to level up. The most fun I had in Guild Wars 2, was literally the character creation screen. There is a lot of ranting and raving about the PvP being great. I thought it was mediocre at best. Depending on what type of gamer you are, if your a newer WoW gen gamer. This instanced PvP scenario might be perfect to you. However to me, there is not enough customization. Its like the way they 'balanced' the game, was to make every high level character in every class the same. World PvP Does not even eksist. So you will never get in to an epic battle out in the field while doing a quest. (Some people prefer this) There is little to no gear customization, its not eksiting to find loot when killing monsters etc. You have damn near every skill you will ever earn at like lvl 10 for instance. The way you gain skills, and use skills to me is really weird. Based on what weapon you are weilding you get a different set of skills. And each class can only hold a few different weapons, so in that aspect it seems REAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLY restricted. The PvE is nothing like Guild Wars 1, which I actually liked, even though it was instanced. Its more your basic MMO with groups of monsters on a wide open map, this monster in this area, that monster in that area. The story is really cool to me though, a lot of 'cut scenes' voice acting. Uncovering every spot in the newbie map will take you hours. Short Version - If this game had a monthly subscription, I would say hell no. Its to late to even bother picking it up. However, since its always free to play, there is no rush to finish questing or griding to top level. (Partially because you can PvP as top level without leveling up, and also because you wont run out of time and have to pay more money. Since its free to play, its an awesome game to pick up. Def. a quality game, that people put some passion in to. It just lacks in feeling 'hardcore' and almost feels to streamlined and casual a lot of the time, however, being able to come back to it at any given time when your bored with your 'hardcore gamer' style games, makes it worth it. There IS NO FREE TO PLAY GAME ON THE MARKET THAT EVEN AMOUNTS TO GUILD WARS 2'S URINE AT THE MOMENT. Hell, with the current state of bland streamlined, achievement fest, anti-pvp games on the market right now, there really are not even that many P2P games that can compete with Guild Wars 2. But its still only -good- not -great-. |
