trip, this might be useful for you to know. the first time i really worked with atreyu was the round of the romeo vote. he and i had been friendly since i returned but nothing more than kind hellos. i was very skeptical of him because he was so distant, so to reinforce my confidence in him rose would often forward me his messages. at that point i already knew he was a fantastic player but the info really opened me up to his brilliance. in the messages it was evident that they had been working together, but more importantly he was clearly GIVING her instruction. just little things at the time "we need to keep our heads low and rebuild social relationships" etc. i didn't think much of it at the time but it lines up with everything you're saying about the two. |

Also good to know. I think I'm still on team Atreyu here. |

I had a pretty positive experience with both of them. Rose was one of the first people that actively tried to work the target off of me at the merge, and Atreyu was up front with me from the beginning of the merge(telling me about the reputation Apollo had given me on New Krypton). The three of us were blindsided by the Lucy boot, and we all realized our standing in the game. There was a lot of scrambling that round - obviously it didn't pay off for me - but it's obvious that it paid off for the two of them. It set in motion their path to here. But the fact is, and while I give her more credit than I initially did when I came over to the Jury House, Rose was the one following Atreyu's lead. Atreyu was hyper aware of the game and the players around him. He had a definitive plan, one that he shared with me, and one that he has since executed to perfection. Hell, look at the Tribals. He never felt desperate, never said anything that wasn't calculated or thought out. He was ice cold. Rose played her part. And she played it well. But it was a part, I would bet, was dictated to her by Atreyu. I was working with her and I was working with Atreyu. A big part of that was trying to sell Laurie into voting with us that round. As Laurie has stated, Atreyu DID go to her that round to try and rekindle the relationship - he told me as much when I was in the game - but I assume that once he realized saving me was fruitless, he began maneuvering himself for the rest of the game. Rose was along for the ride. |

Romeo, do you plan to ask them whether the part played by Rose was dictated by Atreyu or done on her own impetus? I think that's a VERY important question. |

It will be asked in some form. I don't think it would change my mind if the answer differed from my perception. I just don't think Rose did anything that Atreyu didn't do, and certainly nothing better. That last tribal spoke volumes to me - Atreyu was 100% confident Rose would take him. I am also greatly impressed with the fact that Atreyu explained his long term strategy to me at the merge and then went ahead and pulled it off. This is a player that could be as eloquent as you Max, or as insightful as Trip, and he had the patience to sit back. I respect that immensely because it's a game I'm borderline unwilling and unable to play. |

I am looking forward to hearing Atreyu explain this at FTC. If he does so and does it well, he has a very good chance of earning my vote. Right now, I haven't seen it. But I was never close enough to Atreyu to hear his plan - I've only heard it from in the Jury House. I need to see him explain it. And I'm sure he will. And I'm looking forward to him laying everything out. |

The Rose "New Tribe" thread on the Red Carpet is pretty damning of who was running who at that point in the game. That's the move of a player borderline giving up... |

Or that's what she wanted us to think. I'm pretty sure Rose never gave up, and I'm also pretty sure she played up the victim card on purpose to make herself seem helpless. |

I don't think she gave up, but Atreyu explicitly told me after she posted that that he was working her to reel her back in and not give up. Whether she was playing it up or not, it was clear then that Atreyu was working her and trying to influence her gameplay. |

It's a lot more of a close call for me. I saw a lot more of Rose than I think some of you did... because of the amount of time I talked to her before the Lucy blindside. |

Maybe more than some of the other Bonsai boys, but I had a good dialogue going with Rose from the double-boot until my own. Again, I was trying to work something with her and Atreyu at F9. We talked a good bit. But that doesn't change my perception that Atteyu was more proactive in making his way to the end and Rose was more reactive. I respect Rose's game more than I initially did - but I still cannot make a case for her to earn my vote over Atreyu. What did she do better? At F4, Atreyu had F2 with you, Rose and Laurie. He maneuvered himself so slyly, so stealthily, and no one ever seemed to be threatened by that. |

I can vouch that Atreyu was PISSED at Rose for making that thread. He thought her head was completely out of the game and that she had screwed up. At least from what he said to me - at that point I believe he seriously started to doubt if he should go long term with her. Atreyu wanted to play with people who came to play. Who wanted to strategize and plan. That comment was Rose whining about being on the outside of 4 straight votes when she thought she was a lock. Nothing more. |

I certainly agree Atreyu was playing a better game toward the end. I do think Rose had set herself up better before all hell broke loose. Rose was in an amazing position before Buttercup and Lucy got voted out. She had F2 deals with multiple people. She also had a much steeper cliff to climb after those blindsides, because Atreyu was already being looked at as someone to work with. Rose had her entire support system swept out from under her. |

Ah - we all lost somebody at some point. Atreyu lost his, too. I lost my entire support system too. Doesn't make me any more deserving of winning. Just gave me more of a reason to work every angle I could. It happened to all of us at some point. |

I don't think Atreyu was as deeply rooted with that group as Rose was. For one, he wasn't nearly as attached to Lucy. The Buttercup vote hurt Atreyu. The Lucy vote really didn't. I'm not saying it makes her more deserving to win. I'm just saying I think she is getting a tad bit underrated here. |
