MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK)- UPDATE 9:10 p.m.

Investigators might have a missing piece of the puzzle after an unknown woman's body was discovered around seven last night near 16th Avenue and 15th Street. Behind Cornerstone United Methodist Church

The coroner says he got a tip earlier this afternoon from someone who might be able to identify the woman. The woman's body was sent to the state crime lab last night. Investigators are hoping their report will help in this case.

Fingerprints will need to be sent to the state crime lab to verify her identity. The coroner says there were no visible signs of trauma in the initial autopsy.

Right now, there are more questions than answers after someone stumbled across a dead body in Meridian Thursday. The biggest questions: Who is she? And how did she die?

The body was discovered around 7 p.m. near 16th Avenue and 15th Street behind Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

"Once officers and investigators arrived on scene, they did discover the body, what they think is a white female," Sgt. Dareall Thompson says. "At this time, we're treating it as a crime scene."

She's described as 20 to 40 years old, between five-foot-four and five-foot-eight, brunette with blonde highlights and around 110 pounds. She was also wearing the necklace in the photo attached to this story.

"We really need the public's help in identifying her," coroner Clayton Cobler says.

The coroner says this woman has four tattoos: a heart with an arrow through it on her right buttock, an infinity symbol that could be rainbow-colored on her right shoulder, the name Jacob on her left shoulder and a yin and yang symbol beside it. There were no visible signs of trauma in the initial autopsy. She's been taken to the state crime lab to learn more.

"They'll do toxicology, of course," Cobler says. "That study will come back, and then they'll go back and do microscopic studies of the tissues they took also to see if they found any trauma that they missed that they couldn't see with the visible eyes."

Police say they hope those findings will help shed some light on how this woman died. In the meantime, they're searching everywhere for clues about her identity.

"They're trying to contact anybody that may know this person," Sgt. Thompson says. We're looking at all the missing reports of maybe a white female."

Investigators are asking anyone with any answers to come forward. If you have any information that could help identify this woman, you can call the coroner at 601-934-7911
