Visual kei is the best! Preferably, I like it better than Jrock and Jpop. I've been into it for about 6 years now. I know lots and lots and lots of bands ^^ My top 6 favourites are: Versailles ~Philharmonic Quintet~ Matenrou-Opera DaizyStripper DEATHGAZE NEGA Kiryu Anyone listen to it? What are your favourite bands? Why do you like them and what got you into them? Edited by DearestPrincess, Oct 10 2011, 10:08 PM.

I tried, but I couldn't really get into it . Could you reccomend any visual kei artists that sound less...girly? To give you an idea of what I like: I like mostly Jpop/jrock, usually with deeper voiced female vocals (GARNET CROW, older Do as Infinity songs, Utada Hikaru, Kamiki Aya) or any kind of male vocals as long as I can tell it's a guy (ONE OK ROCK, Asian Kung Fu Generation, Bump of Chicken, RADWIMPS), and the song is catchy, or a pretty ballad. I also like some enka, and most recently, 島唄 (Shima Uta). |

Yeah, there are plenty like that!! You may even like Exist Trace (Female Vk band) I don't like them much, but everyone seems to. A lot of Vk bands that people like are usually D'espairsRay, The GazettE, DEATHGAZE, and Girugamesh. All of them sounds like guys and sing great songs (except I don't like Girugamesh, but again, everyone else seems to) Deluhi is another that everyone likes and I don't ;^_^ Trust me though, I wouldn't give you bad bands just to give you a bad impression or anything, they're worth it whether I like them or not. VERY popular bands that everyone (including myself) LOVE are Versailles and Matenrou-Opera. Kamijo (of Versailles) has a manly voice. Their music is really complex, so naturally they're a hit. Sono (of Matenrou-Opera) can hit the high notes, but I'm not sure you can say his voice is "high-pitched"? You'd have to try them out for yourself. I really like NEGA. Jin has a weird voice, but most certainly not girly. And -Oz- is also really good. Most of these bands are the common bands that everyone knows. I thought I'd start you off there, it's not fun to know bands that no one knows V.V I can definitely give you some though!! |

Thank you for all the suggestions! Most people wouldn't reccomend things they don't like themselves but are popular, so I have a lot of respect for you doing that. I didn't want to reply until I had time to listen to all of them properly. I searched for each of them on Google (JP) video search, and listened to the first three songs from each. I really like Exist Trace! I didn't think I would like any visual kei group, but the name sounded familiar, and it turns out I had two songs of their's in my Last.fm favorites. Are there any other female visual kei bands? Most of the other bands' vocals sounded too much like Gackt to me (I used to not mind Gackt, until I went to Japan, and he was promoting a new song on all the music shows. Since I often left the TV on as Japanese background noise, even when not watching it, by the 30th time or so of hearing that song I got completely sick of Gackt's voice. Although you can tell it's a guy's voice, I'll give it that.), though I did like The GazettE's guitar, and Girugamesh's songs were kind of perky. |

Don't know many female VK bands myself, I prefer male vocals over all, but I do believe Danger Gang is an all female Vk band, you could give them a try. Not sure what they sound like to be honest. Onmyou-za and Light Bringer are bands with female vocalists who (I believe) are considered Vk, but you said you don't like the high pitched voices. Not sure if Onmyou-za are all female considering I've never seen them... If I can recommend two more male bands for you to give a try, DEATHGAZE is amazing. Ai's voice is really deep, and it's not weird sounding. ROGUE is really new, not so popular yet, but I feel it won't be much longer until they are. Everyone seems to love Minami's voice so maybe you'll think so too. Amends is my favourite song by DEATHGAZE, though, they do have heavier stuff that this as well. Qualia is ROGUE's only released song (gorgeous PV), but if you can find Driven or Aesthetics of Suicide somewhere on youtube those are good as well. If you don't like these bands, I'm not sure I will be very much help, but if you're willing to continue trying, I know plenty of them ^^ |

I haven't listened to any Vk bands in a while, or Japanese music in general. For a while I liked Blood+ (band not show, though the anime is cool too). I also like L'arc en Ciel, but I don't know if they count as Vk technically... |

Actually, during a show the host asked L'Arc~en~Ciel about them being Visual kei and they all walked off stage. So, that's a clear answer that they're not Vk xD I don't listen to Jrock much, but L'Arc~en~Ciel is one of the very few bands who hold a special place in my heart <3 |
