Has anyone actually tried Google+ yet? I have to say, I love it. It's much easier to use than Facebook (especially since the update) and just looks a whole lot prettier.

The only major downside is that basically nobody's using it, because everyone's sticking to Facebook. So that's kind of sad.

What do you guys think, have you tried it? Did you like it, or not? Or don't you care? xD

Meh... I tried out Google+ but I wasn't hugely into it. It just seemed the same as Facebook to me.

Personally, I'm a Tumblr kinda guy.

I kind of love that everyone I knew on Gaia has left and moved on to Tumblr. It just seems like the natural order of things.

...s'just a shame you can't dress up an avatar with things that cost too much money on Tumblr.

If tumblr added in avatars I don't think I would ever leave.

You'd only be able to buy thick rimmed glasses, jeans that are too tight and checked shirts for them, though. It would just basically show you what your inner hipster looks like.

...and then probably sort you into a Hogwarts House and shove you in the T.A.R.D.I.S., just for good measure.

So many fangirls on Tumblr. So, so many.

Hmm, I never got into Facebook, and now I think it's still going strong, but starting to die down at my college. A Google college rep posted an invite link on the school's public notice board-type thing a month before it went public, and now most people I know have at least tried it.

As for what I think about Google+, it seems cleaner, and not majorly confusing and frequently changing like Facebook (plus Facebook isn't popular in Japan). I didn't think it would be the type of thing I'd like (all the other social networks I'm a part of besides Gaia are in Japanese), but I actually got kind of into it, and use it to send Japanese links to Japanese people/learners I know. My name's fake, like my Facebook account which I only keep to sign up for sites, because I like my privacy, but overall I think Google+ has a more intuitive interface, and is overall easier to use, plus it's not as "in your face' as Facebook, and last I checked, Facebook's Japanese version wasn't completely translated, which annoyed me, while Google+ had lots of fully complete site translations at launch.

I subscribe to some Japanese Tumblr blogs, but Tumblr's interface is also only partially translated into Japanese, which made me not want to use it.

One thing I definitely do not like about Google+ that I forgot to mention: they force you to use your legal name, and will ban you if they find out you don't. This is an issue for a lot of reasons, but one of them being that there are certain things I do not want certain family members to find out about me through social networking sites because of me using my legal name.

Facebook does the same thing though, doesn't it? I know it made big news (English article on it) in Japan by banning a bunch of Japanese bloggers who were better known by their aliases.

Anyway, while I'm not a fan of Google+'s real name policy, just tweaking dictionary words you want to use, or translating them into another language seems to solve that issue.

Interesting...What do you guys use Tumblr for? I follow the feeds of a few Japanese Tumblr blogs, but the whole idea of the site (from my observations of Japanese Tumblr blogs) seems to be to show people cool links and pictures, like Twitter, so I didn't see a reason to actually use it, other than searching for Japanese blogs to follow.
