Hey guys!

For those of you who don't know, November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) - you write a 50.000 word novel during the month of November. It's supposed to be a way of combating writer's block, to force you to just sit down and write, not to worry about editing; so you've just got the material in front of you to work with later in the year, should you choose to take the idea further.

So, who's doing it? Also, have you ever considered doing it in a language that wasn't your mother tongue? C: I'm sort of half debating doing it in Swedish this year. I don't know why. xD

Good luck if you decide to do it!
I thought about giving it a try, but I'm bad at writing prose. ^-^; I've read a ton of Japanese novels (and reading more all the time ^^), but somehow I think my Japanese prose would be even worse than my English prose.
I tried roleplaying in Japanese once, which is probably the closest thing I've done, but no advanced/intermediate learners wanted to join, and Japanese people don't seem to have the concept of "forum roleplaying"...

I could never do it. If I did, my story would turn out 10000x worse than Twilight because I suck at coming up with plots and believable characters.

Though I am quite tempted to write a short story based off of the random plot this gives me.

Homosexual grandmothers drive around with paranoid robots to protect the ones they love.

...that's my plot sorted, then! x3

I'm doing it. This will be my 5th NaNo, and I won last year. I've always wanted to write in another language, however, I feel like NaNo would be a bad time for me to do it because of how much more time it would take.

And I'm Dead Boots on the website in case anyone wants to be writing buddies.

"Ancient nuclear scientists seek vengeance on paranoid rapists, despite the impending apocalypse." LOL, Neat site.Seventh Sanctum is also really good for random generators.

I dont quite get the point of properly entering NaNoWriMo.

When you "win" What do you win?
Are these stories open for everyone to read?
What is to keep someone from stealing your story and publishing it themselves?

I've looked at generators before, but none as interesting as that one. I should try to write something from that one day, that would be fun!

As for NaNo, it isn't my thing. I have other hobbies and don't want to dedicate all of my free time to writing.

I can understand it as a social thing. Friends try for NaNo together, so they have fun being writing buddies and all. As for doing it by yourself, some people do better with set times, and they might feel it more important if it's one not set by them. I think it's about finding your own reasons.
