text and everything else on his mind to notice that she was out of breath from rushing back to him. He was just grateful she was back, already. "Definitely! I can't wait to see what you've got going on with this club of yours." and that wasn't even a lie. He really was interested in the concept of a Newspaper Club, especially since the newspaper hadn't been used in decades. Whether or not Marty would be able to bring it back had yet to be seen, but Dante was willing to be with this new story of hers, she'd have a good chance at it. 'Which is just...unfortunate. If only her new story wasn't something so very dangerous to our cause.' and if only the enemy wasn't using Marty in this fashion. Dante had already grown to like the girl, and knowing she was being used by the enemy in an effort to undermine the Shitennou, who had only just been given this new chance to prove themselves as heroes to the kingdom and not enemies, just made him feel terrible. "Lead the way!" he pocketed his cell phone as he said this and tried to maintain a cheerful attitude while he fell into step behind the copper-headed student. And she was right, it didn't take them long to reach the club house, at all. In under five minutes they had arrived and Dante followed Marty into the room, at a total loss as to what to expect of a newspaper club. OOC: I'm going to let you describe what it looks like, Eva. I'm not sure how Marty would keep things. |

Marty nodded slowly, stepping back around him to flip open the comic to a page featuring Lois Lane. "Yeah. I want to be like her," she said. "I know it sounds stupid." She'd been laughed at during school enough to know. "But she's this world class journalist. She goes in and she gets the story others can't. She's not like other comic book heroines. She doesn't have super powers, she's not the damsel-in-distress. Well, not all the time. But its usually her own fault. She's so brave and I want to be like that." She closed the book and set it on the table. "Laney's named after her," she confessed, taking a seat in one of the wooden chairs, gripping the edge of it between her legs nervously. "Hey, we all have to have goals, right? I'm not the superhero type. I'm not born with some great destiny like the Sailor Senshi. I'm not going to ever be queen of anything but neither was Lois Lane. But she didn't let that stop her from being great." |

It was clear by Marty's demeanor that she was nervous spilling this information to him, as if she might expect him to tease her about it. The reality was, he admired her for the dream--whether she thought it was silly or not. He had remained standing by the door, but now he approached so that he was standing right in front her, gazing down at her with a soft smile. "I think that's admirable. The truth is, people like Lois Lane...they're the real heros. The ones that do the right thing, even though they seem, or feel, powerless. Magic doesn't make the hero, Marty." he reached out and tapped her upper chest, right above her heart, with a soft touch of his fingertip. "This does." For a moment he found himself lost in her eyes, a strange sensation rushing through him. Something about what she'd said, about her being a hero, seemed to strike a chord inside him. It was strange, like a sense of de-ja-vu, and for a moment he thought he had a glimpse of the future. Somehow, Marty was going to play a pivtol roll in what was happening with the enemy, with their Kingdom...but what that roll was going to be, he could only guess at. Seconds seemed to pass like hours while his gaze remained locked on hers, his body bent forward so he could rest his fingertip over her heart. Finally he blinked and pulled back, nervously shoving his hands into his pockets. "Anyway, that's what I think." he flashed a half-smile, then turned his attention to the rest of the room. "This place is really...cool. Are you accepting members?" |

Marty's heart thudded loudly, her blood pounding in her ears as every sense in her body seemed to hone in on that small patch of skin underneath his finger tip. For a moment, she could almost understand women swooning in old movies. Almost. "Ah..." It took a moment for her brain to kickstart again. "Accepting members?" Finally the wheels in her head started to once more. Heck, had he just found her off switch? Springing to life, she jumped back to her desk. "I'm always excepting members," she said quickly, ignoring the blush that seemed to permanently stain her cheeks. "What were you looking to do? Write? Photography? Cartoons?" |

A soft chuckle escaped Dante at Marty's enthusiasm; clearly this was her passion! "I..don't really know..." a soft frown came to his lips at her question, but the smile remained gleaming in his blue eyes. "I'm not that great an artist, so I think cartoons are out. I guess I could write, but I honestly wouldn't know what to write about. "Photography is more my sister's line of work..." he offered, absently. In fact, when it came to something liek THIS, his sisters were very likely the better option for Marty's little club. Too bad none of them were attending Serenity alongside him and Angelo. Do you have anything specific you NEED?" Maybe he was getting in over his head, here. He really knew NOTHING about newspapers, or what it took to run one. His hobbies were more physical rather than analytical. He liked to read, on occasion, and he kept up with his studies with drive and singlemindedness, but his free time was often spent 'out doors.' |

Anything she specifically needed? The thought sent heat coursing through her body like molten lava. No, no, no. Bad Marty, she admonished herself. That had bad porno written all over it. Besides, look at this guy. This was the type of man who ended up in the paper for scandalizing love affairs with a member of the royal family or a supermodel or something. Not Marty 'the Jinx' Varity and her amazing pet Ferret. Her world belonged in a circus. His was clearly red carpet. Snapping her finger, a light bulb went off. "You know, I bet you could get into all those fancy places they don't let me in. Like nightclubs and banquets and stuff. How about you be in charge of our page 6. Hit the highlights of what's going down with the upper crust and I can go over it later to see how its written? Truthfully, what I need is bodies and yours will do very nicely." She paused, her heats flushing. "I didn't mean it that way! Oh god," she face palmed. |

Dante couldn't help but grin at Marty's comment and subsequent discomfort. Yet, if he seemed embarrassed, it didn't show at all. "So you want me to basically be your 'inside guy' with the upper class? Are you sure you didn't plan to run into me, today?" his grin was a little devlish, and if Marty were perceptive she might realize he was teasing her. "I mean, it seems a little coincidental that shortly after I become friends with Prince Treasure I'd end up being enchanted by a journalist with an eye on finding dirt on the royal family..." He waited a moment to see how she reacted to this statement, trying to maintain an expression that would make it clear he was teasing. Sometimes his sisters didn't get his sense of humor, either, and he knew they could be sensitive to his teasing if they didn't realize that's all it was. Whether she appeared to get it or not, he finally relented with a soft chuckle. "I'm teasing, of course. I suppose I could help you with that. It's very likely that I will be attending a lot more in the way of banquets and parties now that Trea and I are friends." of course, he wasn't about to mention that he was now one of Trea's official 'entourage' just yet. Let that announcement be made, later. Then again...well, perhaps he should ask Endymion what he thought, first, but letting Marty have the exclusive on that tidbit of news might be useful in keeping her on THEIR side. It was definitely going to be a necessity to befriend her if they were going to find out how far the enemy was intending to use her. |

"You're friends with the prince?" Marty asked, her mouth dropping open in awe. And then the rest of what he said hit her, driving out her previous surprised. He was enchanted? By her? She arched a brow. "Are you sure that you're not the one who hit his head?" She touched the tender spot on her head gingerly, wincing at the pain. No, it was still her. Deciding to go back to the important topic, she had to ask, "Don't you find the prince... scary?" Edited by Lady Storyteller, Mar 27 2014, 02:02 PM.

Her shock could only be genuine, and it made him smile even brighter. However, when she asked if he thought the prince was 'scary' the smile faltered and shifted to a soft frown. The question, he supposed, was fairly warranted. After all, Prince Treasure hadn't been doing a very good job of making friends; then there were all the rumors. In truth, if Marty--or anyone, for that matter--had asked him such a question BEFORE he'd gotten to know Treasure, he might have had a very different answer. "I think the Prince is very misunderstood." he answered, truthfully, his arms crossing before his broad chest. "He's very guarded, and just a bit angry, and for good reason. How would you feel if you had to deal with dozens of rumors that basically said you were an abomination that should never have been born? I know I certainly wouldn't much care for it, and it would make me rather frustrated with people. Especially when they decide to judge me on those rumors rather than getting to know me, first." He hoped she would really think about what he just said, because when you put everything Trea had to put up with as a child and into his teens, it was a wonder the kid hadn't snapped, out right. Now he was given power to help these people, and rathre than turn his back on them, he was actually doing what he could. That spoke deeply to his character, at least in Dante's mind...though, of course, he couldn't mention THAT to Marty. "So, no, I don't find him 'scary.' Just...in an unfortunate situation and doing the best he can to cope with it. Granted, he's not doing a very good JOB." the man grinned despite himself. The way Treasure treated people, sometimes, and the hauty attitude he tended to have toward others did NOT help win people over...but hopefully he and Angelo--well, maybe not Angelo. Angelo had his own issues with temper and pride--would be able to help him get past his anger issues and really blossom as the true person he was. |
