Queen Minako looked around at the young faces of her and Rei's grandchildren. It was a heavy burden two of them were about to take on but no heavier than that which she and Rei had taken on themselves at a younger age. Minako had become Sailor V when she'd been only 13 years old. Tea had been served along with small frosted cakes. Adora was snacking without a care in the world but she wondered if any of the others sensed what was about to come. Sharing a brief glimpse with Rei, Minako cleared her throat and set down her tea cup. "I imagine you're all wondering why we've called you here," she began. "Perhaps some of you suspected after what happened Valentine's Day." "My birthday!" Adora chirped raising her hand, grinning. "Yes," Minako said slowly, wishing that Adora could be more focused on Freyja. It was as though the girl couldn't expect that bad things were going on around her. "Happy Birthday, Adora." "Thank you," she beamed. "But I was actually referring to the attacks. Many people died Valentine's Day. More died at the concert last week. The time of peace that we've fought so hard for is coming to an end." Minako paused before she went on. She was so used to just making the decisions herself and running with them. She hadn't had a life partner in a very long time. When Ami had said she wanted to talk to Shingo about the transfer of powers, Minako had to bite her tongue from asking 'Why?' Most women turned to their partners at these times. It just wasn't something she was used to anymore. If I had a husband, would I even bother to ask him about this? He's not a senshi... But they would be his grandchildren. Well, no, his step grandchildren. Maybe if Jordan, Adora's grandfather, had survived the Black Moon Family's attack... but even then she just wasn't sure. Senshi business really had nothing to do with a husband. This was her destiny and the destiny of her heirs. No, she did not think she would have consulted a husband had she had one. This was her decision to make. He would never understand what it entailed. Lost in her musings, she focused on whatever Rei was having to add to their conversation. Keiko bowed politely to the Queen of Venus as custom dictated. While she was curious for the reason of their meeting, she was no fool. She could sense it both on a intellectual and a spiritual level the reason they were being gathered. Rei sipped her tea while Minako started to speak. Keiko followed her grandmother's lead, sipping politely but she watched Adora with a sense of confused curiosity. The girl seemed a bit...oblivious for the lack of a better word. Her attention was drawn back to Queen Minako when she seemed to have mentally drifted off. Rei sat down her glass to pick up where Minako left off. "The queens have all met and after some discussion we have agreed that the best course of action is to be prepared. And that means you will need to begin training as the new Senshi." Freyja had been off in the holomat running a program to keep her skills sharp and body in shape. It wasn't enough to just train Jayson but she had to be at her peak as well. When she finished up the three-hour long program she was covered in her sweat and she toweled her face off as she grabbed her top that she had discarded during the session. The exercise had been good for her and it had been a while since she had pushed herself. She sighed to herself as she picked up her bag and looked at her device. Her eyes narrowed at the missed messages. Three from Natalie and one from...HER GRANDMA?!? She didn't say anything and only accessed the message from her grandmother. It had been quite some time since she had last received anything from her and now. It was odd but she would see what she had to say. It was most likely something about dinner since she may possibly be on the Moon. She smiled at the thought of seeing her grandmother again and when she read the message her eyes widened slightly at what it said. >>"Emeregency,Moon Palace Grand Parlor @ 1730."<< She had mixed feelings for a moment. She took a minute and finished toweling the sweat off herself and putting her top back on. She grabbed her bag and started out of the holomat toward the shuttle bay. It was close to the time that was listed on her phone. Nearly twenty minutes later she was standing at the gates to the Moon Palace. She sighed and walked over to the guard post. "Excuse me guardswoman I have been summoned by the Queen of Venus to meet her in The Grand Parlor." She adjusted her glasses as she waited for an answer. The guard adjusted her duty belt and looked at the woman who was taller than her. "Name please?" Freyja was not annoyed at the woman but herself for not giving her name in the first place. "Aino, Freyja." The guard looked at her and nodded while she accessed the tablet to pull up a visitors log. She smiled as the woman's name came up and then slid the biometric pad and retinal scanner forward. "If you would please Ms. Aino." Freyja nodded and did as requested by placing her hand on the scanner and then putting the retinal scanner to her eye. The machines gave a positive ID on the woman and the gate guard permitted her inside. "Ms. Aino do you know your way to the parlor?" Freyja nodded as she hoisted her bag and proceeded inside the gate. She knew her way somewhat. She would just ask a servant if she got lost. "Thank you guardswoman, I appreciate the help." She walked with a bit of alacrity to her steps, as she was not sure who else was there. The palace was large and she didn't know her way around it. So she was going to have to ask for assistance. Freyja was taken by palace staff into the grand parlor and given a seat next to Adora. She didn't give greeting as she took out a towel and dried her face. She looked at all assembled and sighed. What the hell was going on? They would soon find out. Again she went to contemplate her workout when she was served tea but refused the snacks. She would love one but right now she wanted to know what was going on. Her grandmother spoke and she gave her the full attention she deserved. When Adora spoke up about her birthday she turned a rather stern look up her cousin. Her reply was a bit acidic. "Happy birthday now listen." She sighed and looked at her grandmother. This should he rather interesting. She waited as she sipped at her tea. "Peace is a state of mind. The only peace you have is achieved through a mind that is at peace." Freyja was just saying something that was once said to her. She believed in many things but a total peace wasn't among them until you accepted peace into your heart. She did not accept that into her peace. She accepted the peace that she felt from her meditations into her heart. "This meeting is to alert us to that Queen Minako, I mean grandmama?" She was about to voice her opinion about being here when the Queen Rei of Mars spoke up she bit her tongue and waited to see what she was going to add to this happy troupe. It was something that nearly made her laugh out loud. They were going to what. She kept the laughter bottled up and left a sober and serious look on her face. It would not do to laugh about all this She had to ask the question. Freyja didn't though she kept it in check. She would ask her grandmother when they were alone. As Keiko did, Hikaru offered a small bow to the Queen of Venus as she approached. She mentioned the incidents that had taken place recently and that was all he needed to know before he decided to take this seriously. While Adora seemed oblivious and Keiko concerned, Hikaru was quiet. Like his sister, he could tell what this was all about. At first, he paid little attention to Freyja's arrival until she spoke. Hikaru still hadn't spoken but one could tell that he was thinking, working everything that was being said through his mind. He did have to agree that Freyja was right in her comment about peace. He had his own doubts about his grandmother passing on her powers though. One of the reasons there was such a rift between he and Keiko and their parents was because of the talents they acquired from her where their parents had none. And now this? It would further drive their family apart if Keiko was the one who received the Queen's senshi abilities. At least...that's how he saw it. He wouldn't mind being wrong in that aspect. If they were going to start training the new senshi, he would have to be prepared as well. But to what extent was all of this going to be done? 'Maybe if you stop thinking and listen, you'll find out...' Hikaru told himself. Minako frowned at Rei's description. While it was true that they were going to be start training the new senshi, she made it sound like all of them would be involved. Her frown deepened at her granddaughter, Freyja's words. Adora and Freyja were so very different from one another. Adora looked at the world through rose colored glasses and Freyja only relied on her physical training. If she had to pick between the two of them, who would it be? Perhaps one of her other granddaughters would be best. Her gaze wandered over all her grandchildren, a sizable lot from her four children. Adora's brother sat against the wall just looking bored. "It is possible that not all of you will be senshi," Minako continued. "We are not exactly sure how this will work. Back during the Silver Millennium, it was always passed from mother to daughter. We did not keep up with that tradition. Your parents are too old to take this one. It must be fresh blood from the new generation. We thought that we would chose among you but it seems the powers of our perspective planets will be making that choice." This was learned the hard way by Haruka and Michiru when their granddaughter, Ito, took in her powers on intergalactic television. Of course, she'd done well trying to pass it off as just special effects they'd be using during production. Minako had found it interesting that Ito glowed golden rather than blue like Haruka had back in their senshi days. "You should know that whoever takes on the mantle of Sailor Venus and Sailor Mars will be our heirs. When the time comes, you will become the ruler of our planets." She paused again, letting this sink in. Rei shot a sideways glance to Minako. She could tell by the look on her friend's face that perhaps she had not delivered in the news in the best way. Rei always had a habit of being too direct that could rub people the wrong way. Minako did her best to sugar coat it, explaining that the planets would choose whom they would pass on their powers. And while it was true what Minako said, Rei was already certain Mars would pass its powers to Keiko. There was no one else in the Hino family or even closely tied to the Hino family that would be suitable. Rei had practically been grooming Keiko from an infant. Her influences with fire, her psychic abilities, and even the way the people of Mars already looking to her like a priest. Rei sigh inwardly, the realization of explaining this to her daughter and son-in-law. That was going to be a headache that she did not want to deal with. Bringing her attention back to the moment, she gripped Minako's forearm gently, in a gesture of unity. "Our purpose is to help the new senshi. We'll help to train and support them and provide whatever they might need." Freyja had heard enough. So this wasn't going to be a choice. It was basically like a throw of the dice. The winner got to be heir to the throne of Venus and the loser well go back to your life. This was something she didn't want at all. She pulled out a cleaning cloth for her glasses and cleaned them to keep from saying something nasty to those present. Once done she put it back in her glasses case letting it give a loud click as it went closed. "It's just luck?!? So you called us here on the fact that it's luck?!? This whole passing of your powers is just luck. The planet will decide?!? Now this is an incredible waste of time!" Her eyes narrowed as she seated her glasses on her face. This was pissing her off. She didn't rather care about this crap if there was no definite. She was staring directly at her grandmother. By his understanding, Hikaru knew that it didn't fully concern him. But, at the same time, as his grandmother and Minako spoke about training new senshi, his full attention was earned. Whoever the new senshi for Mars was going to be, it was a member of his family. And that made it his concern. Freyja's reaction was certainly loud enough though he had a feeling she was biting her tongue. Her reaction wasn't his concern. She wasn't his family so what she did or thought was none of his concern. Freyja's assessment of who was chosen being luck wasn't how Hikaru would word it but she was right. Call it luck, destiny, fate, whatever...all random. "Life has a funny way of doing things..." he mused. But if this is how things had to be done, Hikaru wasn't about to debate it. "Aino Freyja, you will hold your tongue and not bring me shame," Minako snapped, her back ridged. Instead of looking like the relaxed embodiment of a grandmother asking a boon of her grandchildren, she looked every inch the military queen she was. She had changed so much since she was a child. Now full grown soldiers would cower at her presence. Those in her army would lay down their lives on her word to defend their kingdom. She would not sit here and have her grandchild embarrass her by causing a scene. Especially once claiming to be trained in discipline. "This is not a matter of luck, it is a matter of destiny, it is a matter of family and honor. Look around you. You know everyone in this room in some fashion. Over half is your blood. Today, lives will change. Every life in this room will be affected and you will approach this with the solemn understanding that it deserves." Her eyes traveled around to everyone in the room, not just her own grandchildren but Rei's as well. "Our kingdom is in danger. Our very way of life. When Rei-chan and I were young, we had to accept our calling. We died for this kingdom multiple times and now we must ask two of you to take our stead. If you think this was easy for us, knowing what those who are picked today will be going through, think again. But selfishness, has no place in this family from any of you wither you verbalize it or not. "Already one of the chosen has denied her destiny and weakened our team. I will not have anyone in this room do the same. Whether you are chosen or you are not," Her eyes locked on Freyja's again. "Someone we love will be taking on the mantle of Sailor Senshi. They will be a soldier on the front lines ensuring our kingdom is safe, that we all are safe. And they're going to need your support because I will not lie. This is the hardest endeavor you will ever face but it is also one of the greatest." Keiko neither withered under Minako's glare. This woman before seemed to different than the person her grandmother used to talk about fondly and in the stories she read. She gave her brother a knowing look. "Who has already been chosen?" Keiko finally asked. It was a fair question and given that anyone in this room could be the new senshi, they should have some idea of who they will be working with. "As far as we know, Sailor Netune and Uranus have been awakened," Rei answered. "And the Silver Crystal is now in the posession of the Moon Princess." Keiko gave a nod for lack of a better gesture. Of course she knew of Princess Minako, but she wasn't that familiar with the Outer Planets. Aside from a couple passings at formal events, she never had to interact with them. "So which one is the problem child?" Freyja just rolled her eyes at her grandmother. So it was this whole song and dance. The one she got from her mother about duty to the kingdom and the execution of that duty without a complaint. She started to settle her things in her bag. She wasn't going to sit here and get lectured by her grandmother. She had enough of this from everyone in her life growing. Her mother after she didn't instantly sign up for the military after she had finished school. Her father from not coming to Earth and helping out with fishing for a season after she finished school and then both of them when she signed on as a trainer. She was so done with this crap. She seated her gym bag on her shoulder and stood. "You do know that I will not be treated as a child. So if you wish to continue this then perhaps you can come to see after you are done brow-beating everyone else." She was angry and while her voice was controlled and she was in control of herself if she hadn't been her grandmother would have been on the ground. She didn't concern herself with this nonsense any longer and started for the door. Hikaru mirrored Keiko's look. The question that followed that look was a good question that had an equally good answer. This seemed to be happening at a very rapid pace. And, based on what his grandmother had said, it sounded like it all of the other senshi would follow suit and be chosen. "How would you define that Keiko?" he asked. "Is it so wrong for someone to resist a change that has been thrust upon them without warning..especially when it contradicts that person's entire lifetime? To have their actions judged as poor by someone who had those experiences already?" Hikaru spoke from experience, of course. He never asked to have the ability that he did, even if his grandmother was widely renowned for her psychic ability. Pausing, Hikaru shook his head. "I'm just saying that maybe we shouldn't judge something as poor or as a rejection just yet. We've lived in a society of peace for centuries...to ask someone to suddenly prepare for war and expect them to just go with it is a bit much." They were so young. So nieve. Each one wanted to play like they were the wiser. There were no choices in this matter and the more they fought it, the more fate would punish them. But if she or Rei shared this wisdom with them, they would never listen. Each would be convinced he or she knew more than their centuries older grandmothers. As Freyja made a big production about leaving, Minako shook her head, feeling more disappointment than anything else. "Is this what you have learned at that fighting school of yours? What would your sensei say, I wonder? Would your words and actions do him proud for they surely bring me shame." She ignored the other two all together. Let Rei deal with her lot for the moment. She had Freyja and she could be a big enough pain in the ass to equal all of Rei's grandchildren combined. Freyja stopped dead. Her grandmother had found the one nerve that could do it. It was regrettable what she had been told by her dojo for her choices of what to do with her skills. They said she was without honor and had no place in as one of their members. A woman with the skill that she had displayed a lack of understanding of their philosophy and that until she could show this she was not to associate herself with them. She turned and looked at her grandmother eyes darkening. It wasn't anger but hurt this time. The set of her shoulders loosened. She was feeling a pain that she hadn't felt in some time. It came back to her in wave that threatened to have her crying in front of strangers. "You can call them and you will hear about how my career choices have brought them dishonor. They will tell you many things about me but my training of the fighter will be what they tell you is my dishonor. So please contact them and ask them all you want." The words of Keiko and Hikaru weren't missed and she narrowed her eyes as she looked at both of them. There would be something said to them after this was over. She wasn't going to let them give commentary on her life without some retribution. Until she held her ground and looked at her grandmother. "I remember you saying something to me a as a young girl. It was encouraging and wonderful, `Freyja you should always chase after what motivates you, no matter how hard or out of reach, only then will you be happy'; I know now why you said it. I have shamed you in this matter." She waited for her grandmother to respond this was an apology of sorts. She wasn't going to apologize fully in front of those two dopes from Queen Hino's clan. In fact what she wanted to do to those two wasn't exactly ask for an apology for their words but beat it out of them. |

![]() Minako really did not want to be having this conversation in front of everyone. Had she known Freyja would be so objectionable to all of this, she would have done this alone and not have subjected Rei and her family to the scene. Unlike the rest of the Queens, however, Minako didn't have anyone at home to turn to in this time of need. The decision was hers and hers alone. There was no husband to discuss it with, her children certainly wouldn't understand. She had to be the leader, alone, and make a steadfast decision. And she had. She'd simply needed the support of a friend nearby who'd made that same decision. Clearly, that had been a mistake. However it was too late to back down now. "Sit, Freyja, we'll discuss it later," she said, sounding far more cold than she'd intended but she had face to save. When she spoke again, it was to them all as a whole. "It seem to me that you all feel this will end your life. You're wrong. We still had lives but we also had a higher calling. If Rei-sama and I had turned our backs on our destiny, everything around you would not exist. Now we have to turn to two of you and ask you to do the same. To protect the future and make what others would deem impossible possible. Do you understand?"

Keiko kept her mouth closed. She was somewhat concerned that Queen Minako had misunderstood her words but she knew better than to argue or correct a Queen. The reason for Freyja's outburst was almost completely lost on her as the reason for her obvious dirty looks. Keiko tried to not make any judgements or have any feelings one or another towards Freyja, despite the fact that she was coming off a brat. Still, Keiko knew better than to judge, and the fact that she and Freyja would be training together was a very real possibility. She had no desire to start things off with tension. Rei sipped her tea while Minako and Freyja exchanged some increasingly heated words. But as was Minako's way, she brought Freyja back down. "Minako-sama is correct. It is honor to be chosen." |

Freyja while suitable calmed was still not happy about anything that had been said to her or about the passing of powers. She sighed, it communicated her frustrations, while she may not completely understand the process she knew that she had no choice if the power was given to her. She was about to capitulate when Rei said it was an honor. An HONOR?!? No an honor was to be accepted back into her dojo. An honor was to earn top rights to train other students in a dojo. This sound more like a job without pay. Why the hell would she want that. She didn't look at Queen Hino and kept her objections to herself. Her grandmother said they still lives and from how her life had went she didn't want to know what the life was like. The lecture wasn't need and she couldn't care. She knew that if you didn't fight for what you desired then it wasn't worth having at all. So she listened and said nothing. While sitting there thought she leaned over and whispered to Adora. "I hope it is you that is chosen." |

Hikaru kept silent for a time. This was something beyond his understanding but he had a feeling it was still within grasp. While Freyja calmed a bit but was still annoyed, he looked off to the side at random spot on the wall. This wasn't something he would want but he would handle it if he was chosen. He still doubted that he would be chosen though; historically speaking, the senshi have always been women. "Just take it all one step at a time." he said. Whether or not it was meant to be advice, well, that was up to the ears of the people listening. It looked as though he wasn't paying attention but he was listening. In his mind, lack of eye contact doesn't always mean that the person wasn't listening. "There's no indication to who will be chosen until it happens, right?" he asked. |

"We will know soon enough. The decision will be made shortly and we hope to begin training once everyone knows," Rei said. "We would hope to make the transition to be as painless as possible. So maybe what we should be figuring out is what it is that all of you need from us? From as as the previous senshi, from us as the Queens and from us as your families who love you." |

![]() Adora had merely been sitting there, dreamily sipping her tea as the others had discussed and fought among themselves. Matters of politics had always bored her. It didn't matter that this could shape her very future. She knew what she wanted in her life and what she didn't. In fact, she did not truly comprehend what they were discussing until Freyja hissed that she hoped Adora was picked instead of her. "Oh, what a novel idea," she said, perking up considerably. "I do have ever so many dresses that would go beautifully with a tiara." Yes, in fact, even if she wasn't chosen, Adora decided that as soon as they were done here, she would go straight over to Tiffany's and purchase one. ![]() Minako looked between her two eldest granddaughters. These two are the hope for my planet? She sighed. Venus was doomed. Leaning into Rei, she whispered, "I wasn't this bad when I was their age, was I? Don't answer that." Rising to her feet, she took a breath. "Let's get on with this." Closing her eyes, a golden glow seemed to radiate from her body, the symbol of Venus appearing on her forehead.

Both Rei and Keiko looked at Adora with the same raised brow. The Martians could not have looked more identical if they tried. Queen Minako broke the look when she spoke to Rei. Rei gave her long time friend a knowing smirk which continued with Minako told her to not answer. Rei nodded at Minako as she said it was time to get on with the passing of the powers. For Rei, the moment felt like it would be less uncertain. Both Venetians were facing such an important and uncertain future. Keiko watched as Queen Minako prepared to pass her powers. It was fascinating to watch although she felt like she was intruding on something rather intimate. But then again Mars and Venus had always been close allies and natural leaders. She hoped that it would be that way now. |

![]() Freyja had not thought about what this would entail but when she saw her grandmother concentrate and then release of a golden glow that entranced Freyja. She smiled as she stood up and wanted to step forward but gave Adora a shove forward. “True lady’s first.” A small chuckle as she stepped up beside her cousin. She would accept whatever came her way. It would be as fate decreed it would be. She watched as the glow moved and then encircled both of them. Freyja raised an eyebrow but said nothing. She wanted to know what was going to happen. She waited as the glow seemed to be deciding which one it would choose and then as it chose. She was perplexed by the choosing and then when it solidified within Adora she smiled. She felt as if she was off hook until some of the glow went into her. She cursed her luck. It was then she noticed that the silver swan pendant had changed to golden one and was perched on top of what looked to be cylinder for lack of a better description. “It seems Grandma that our planet has chosen.” She looked at Adora smiling and then in a very uncommon gesture for her she hugged her cousin. “Congratulations Adora…you are going to be the one we look to. I wish you many years of success.” After that she looked at her grandmother. “Grandma, I don’t know what to say. I was being out of line.” How her mother spoke but it was true. She was being out of line. She had no right and while it hurt her pride to admit she did so. “I would like to apologize to you and Queen Hino.” She bowed to them both. “Although I have a question. Why did that golden glow surround both of us?” She didn’t want to think about it. Then the question and her hand going to the pendant on the chain around her neck brought the question up. “Why did it do that grandma?” |

The glow entered bothe Venetians. What an interesting turn of events this was. Queen Rei bowed her head at Freyja's apologies. "No apologies necessary. We are all under a great deal of pressure," The Martian Queen stood. Now it was her turn. She gave Keiko a small nod of comfort before closing her eyes. Rei began to glow the brilliant red of flames. The symbol of Mars became pronounced on her forehead and her lips moved in a hush prayer. Keiko felt her body being pulled its feet and so she stood up. She had never seen this kind power radiate off her grandmother before. The queen had always been...select for a lack of better term, regarding when and to whom she displayed her real powers to. Keiko could feel the warmth radiate from the Queen and then suddenly she felt the warmth. In fact it grew uncomfortably hot, like she was on fire. And then suddenly it dissipated, leaving Keiko feeling really no different than before. Rei opened her eyes and looked at Minako. "It is done." |

Minako looked solemnly from Adora to Freyja. "I don't know," she said honestly when Freyja asked about the aura glows. "I honestly do not. It could mean many things." But until Adora changed for the first time, she couldn't have said for sure. Adora looked at her glowing skin and took the henshin pen that appeared in front of her. "Wow. Does this mean I'm a princess now?" she asked. "Tiara and everything?" Minako loved Adora, she truly did but in that moment she couldn't help but feel that Venus was... doomed. "Yes but you must understand how great a responsibility this is." "Oh yeah, I got that. I remember the history lessons and the comics. Am I also the leader? Bigger tiara," Adora said in a sing-song voice, giggling. Minako sweatdropped. First Freyja showing her butt and now this. She really couldn't win. As Keiko was chosen among the Mars family line, she waved her hand. "You're all dismissed. Adora, please stay. I think we need to have a talk." |

(ooc: almost completely forgot about this!!) Hikaru remained still, watching the interactions between grandmothers and granddaughters. The first exchange came from the Venetians. But this didn't surprise him at all. What really came as a surprise was Freyja's apology. That was completely out of left field! But it was her decision to apologize. Unexpected or not, he made no comment about it. He didn't quite know what to make of both Venetians glowing but there was a lot he didn't know about the universe. This had to be another of those mysteries. The next exchange came from his own grandmother. In the back of his mind, Hikaru prayed that Keiko wasn't chosen. He was half a thought away from dropping to his knees and begging. But no such relief came. The power of Mars had passed to Keiko. Pushing off the wall as Adora seemed to focus more intently on the tiara and being a princess, Hikaru approached his sister and gave her a hug. "Congratulations." he said with his best 'proud brother' smile. Turning to Adora and Freyja, he tilted his head just a bit.
