The hurried slamming of the door flying open startled Nariko but the maid's explanation about Haruka's condition took over. She could understand and relate to the stress that she was experiencing. Hearing Serenity close the meeting for now, Nariko gave a bow of her head and rushed out quickly, Jun in tow. While she was concerned about Haruka, Michiru was already on her way to be with the other Queen. She was in good hands. Nariko had another concern on her mind. "I'm heading over to be with gran'ma!" she called back to Jun. Giving a nod of his head, Jun turned down another hall and started back to meet with his father and the rest of the guard. Pushing her away past the doors to leave the palace, Nariko headed over to the vehicle she and Jun had used to get to the palace in the first place. Within minutes, she was in the hospital, stopping near the front desk. "Which room is Queen Makoto in?" she asked quickly, the nurse taking only a moment to point her in the right direction and give her the room number. Nariko's sudden entrance was a surprise to everyone, especially her cousins and sister who were all waiting there already. Rushing down the hall, Nariko nearly slipped on the freshly waxed floor. Slowing her pace just a bit, she continued to the room. For all her concern, whether the baby was delivered or not, throwing open the door would do no one any good. Slowly the door opened and Nariko poked her head. "Grandma?" |

Makoto lay in bed, her husband by her side having taken an emergency teleporter to the castle. She looked tired but oh so happy as she looked down at the face of her newborn son. He was so small, his skin red and hair dark. Her sixth child was breast feeding at the moment and seemed starved. Well, it had been a big day for him. She looked up as Nariko came in. "Nari-chan, come and meet your new uncle," she said, unabashed. "This is Kouki." |

Nariko smiled brightly as Makoto greeted her, breast feeding the newborn. She was unashamed of the sight. This wasn't the first child that her grandmother had brought into the world that she had gone to see. And if she knew her grandmother as well as she believed, it wouldn't be the last either. Stepping into the room, Nariko quietly closed the door behind her. Approaching the bed slowly, Nariko leaned closer, allowing two fingers to brush gently along the infant's skull. "Hi there, Kouki.." she cooed. "..I'm your niece, Nariko." Turning her attention to Makoto, Nariko moved closer and hugged her grandmother's head against her. "I rushed over as soon as I could...I was on pins and needles throughout the meeting." |

"Nothing to worry about," Nariko's grandfather said, going over and squeezing her shoulders. "I had it covered. Your grandmother says you've had a long day." Makoto looked up at her granddaughter and the sparkle in her eyes dimmed a bit. "You don't need to be hanging around some hospital all day. You should be out... having fun." There was a guilt to her eyes. Yes, she'd wanted Nariko to step up but now that it was done, she seemed to be having second thoughts on the matter. Bringing new life into the world could do that to a person. |

Nariko gave a small nod as her grandfather squeezed her shoulders. "Its been a long day for all of us.." Hearing that her grandmother wanted her to go out and have fun, Nariko could not help but think for just a bit. She did tell Nariko that being a senshi did not mean she couldn't live her life. "I will grandma, I will." She gave Makoto one last hug before turning back to kiss her grandfather on the cheek. Crossing the room quietly, Nariko slid the door open and stepped out into the hall. "So where are you going to have fun?" The sudden question startled Nariko as she turned to the source. "Lin? How long were you standing here?" "Long enough-" Lin answered. "-and I know you well enough so let's go. You're going out to have fun and I'm going to make sure trouble stays away." "But its not your duty-" "Its a familial obligation." Lin pointed out with a lazy wave of his hand. "Besides..if I don't get out and do something, I'm going to go crazy. So let's get you all sparkly and fashionable and get you onto a dance floor." "Is it okay if I think its a bit creepy that you just said that?" Raising a brow, Nariko watched her cousin but she had a feeling the question wouldn't phase him in the least. "Go ahead. If I let every single thought that people have had about get to me, I'd had gone insane long ago." Lin shrugged, burying his hands in his pockets. ~~Half a hour later~~ Lin pushed the doors of the dance club open. He was sporting a simple pair of black pants with a white shirt, tucked in with the cuffs left unbuttoned. Following just behind, albeit seemingly against her will, was Nariko. "I can't believe you made me wear this!" she hissed at him from behind the door. "Its a dress-" Lin pointed out, rolling his eyes. "-and I didn't do anything. Yue and a handful of our cousins made you wear that. I'm pretty sure its some lunatic attempt at getting you noticed. Besides, you don't look that bad." "Noticed!" Nariko nearly yelled. "I don't want to be noticed!" Shaking his head, Lin grabbed Nariko's wrist and pulled her through the doors. "You're blocking the flow of traffic." Nariko, at least for tonight, was wearing an emerald green one shoulder cut out dress that was tight-fitted just for her. She had half wondered if someone planned to have her wear this dress before. "Now get out there and dance." "Me?" Nariko squeaked. "What about you?" "I'll be over here-" Lin answered as he pointed at a chair by the wall. "-doing what I do best." "Draw?" "Playing wallflower." "B-but..." Nariko's pleas fell on deaf ears as Lin was already half way over to the wall by the time she figured out what she wanted to say. "He's already slumped against the wall..." she sighed quietly. Nariko stood quietly in one spot away from the dance floor, just letting the dance music play. But as the music played, true to her nature, Nariko came alive and she had made her way out onto the dance floor and was already clearing out her own little dance area.
