Lara nearly stopped in her tracks at the comment made by Keiko. From the lessons in school, she knew of the powers held by the royalty of Mars and how in tuned they can be with energies around them. Her grandmother explained that her own powers could be seen in a similar fashion with the exception that it had a different connection to the world around her. She had to admit that it was usually fairly nice to see mini movies connected from objects from the past and keeping her mostly out of trouble. It sometimes scared her when she had the nightmares connected with things that might happen. She took in a deep breath as they headed far from The Park and into the Moon District. She was truly floored that this girl who was almost a complete stranger had offered her to listen to her. She was not even sure if it would be possible to explain the extreme wrong that had taken place. The best bet would be to focus on the hear and now; if it came slipping out then it would be dealt with. Honestly, she felt that the way she had been dealing with it was working, the avoidance. They entered the district as Lara led them down the main road almost to the end of the district. She took a right turn down one of the smaller walkways to a tiny shop with a classic ice cream parlor look to it. It reminder her a bit of the time she had spent on Earth. She pushed open the door with a little tingle of a bell. She walked up to the counter, happy that it was fairly quiet in here today with only a couple of the tables filled. A stoat heavy set man came rushing to the front with a smile on his face. "Lara dear it is good to see you again. How are you doing? Oh look, bringing a friend with you as well. I see that you have finally taken my advice to heart about making a new friend here and there. Now what will it be girls?" Lara felt heat on her cheeks as one of her hands reached up to play with a necklace that was not there anymore. She forced her hand down and cleared her throat. "This is Keiko. I am doing...okay at the moment. Can I have two scoops of the Strawberry Cheesecake?" "Of course! What can I get you, Miss Keiko?" The stoat man turned his attention to the martian princess with a bright smile on his face. |

Keiko smiled politely at the man who seemed to know Lara fairly well. "Two scoops of cookie dough, please," Keiko said. She turned to Lara. "You enjoy your ice cream, hm?" She joked. Keiko pointed to a small table in the corner. "Want to sit over there?" [OOC: Hope you don't mind that I'm changing text colors. I just realize how painfully bright that red text can be] |

Lara laughed a little at the comment that was made. It was true that she enjoyed ice cream, at times more than she cared to admit. She had found this out of the way place with in the first month or so that she had moved to the ship. She liked how most of the time it was quiet as she did her homework here. She had gotten to know the parlor owner quite well. She answered back as she payed for the treat, "You can say something like that." The stoat man smiled as he gave a special discount for the girls. "Enjoy you two." Lara walked over to the table in the corner that Keiko had pointed out earlier. She smiled as she took a seat and a few bites. "I often come here to do my schoolwork. I found it by chance after I got here. I guess you can say that I'm a regular. I tend to like the not so well known places. I tend to think of them as jewels in the such a big place." (OOC: That is fine. I have been playing around with a few colors myself. I know that the brighter colors tend to not show up so well on the original theme.) |

Keiko nodded her head in understanding. "I can relate. But Rei is pretty private so at the palace, it's easy to find places to escape. Here though," Keiko waved her hand. "Even though almost everyone are students and teachers, you're basically exposed. Like Princess Serenity, obviously everyone knows her face. It has to really suck. So finding little refuges like this, especially as introvert..."Keiko nodded. "You should sell your secret." |

Lara laughed a bit at the last comment. "I shall have to think about it. I'm sure Mr. Nero would be pleased for the extra attention from some of the other royals. But then again, I don't want to have to find another ice cream shop." She said the last part with a little wink of her eye. "I honestly don't know Princess Serenity other than the name and face." She was nearly half way through her dish before she changed the topic. "It must have been nice to have grown up in such a quiet place as a palace. What was that like?" |

Keiko shook her head as she shoveled a spoonful of ice cream into her mouth. "I've actually only lived there for a few years now. My parents aren't particularly open minded," She said. "I had an accident and at that point I think they realized they couldn't control things any more," Keiko didn't sound bitter or angry towards her parents. She stated it as a simple fact of her life. "My parents are very scientific and neither posses any abilities. I don't think they could understand what I can do. My grandmother has been wanting to cultivate my talents since I was a baby, I think she was disappointed that it skipped my mother. But now she got her way," Keiko shrugged. "What about you?" |

Lara listened closely to the story that was told. She was rather surprised that Keiko was so calm with how things had gone with her family. She had to chuckle slightly with the comment about Queen Rei finally getting her way. She remembered from history books reading something like that. She fidgeted as the conversation turned to her family. It was a topic that she really did not want to discuss however she did not think she could find a good excuse not to tell. She felt another wave of betrayal run through her. She took a bit of ice cream and willed it all away for now. "I moved a bit with my family when I was younger since my father is an archeologist and my mother used to help set up exhibits at museums. I lived on Earth for awhile after my mother disappeared when I was about four. I am fairly certain that something from her past caused her death." She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before moving on. "My father's family always thought I was a bit strange and picked on me quite a bit. Dad finally found out and moved us to the furthest corner of the system which happened to be Pluto. It was happier time since we settled down and felt like a family again. Though I recently found out that my own.....grandmother has been looking after me for quite some time and never really said anything until a couple of weeks ago. Honestly not sure if I want to see her anytime soon, even if she did help me control my own....talents." She stared at her nearly empty bowl of ice cream as she pushed back hot tears. It was not the time nor the place to loose it. She honestly just wanted to scream. Things seemed to be happening in a way she did not quite understand. |

Keiko opened her mouth and quickly closed it. She had gone too far with Lara and she could feel the shift of her emotions. Even she couldn't read emotions, she could tell from the look at Lara's face. She looked down at her bowl. "I-I'm sorry. I don't often think before blurting out rude things," Keiko said. It was painfully clear that asking anything about Lara's grandmother was completely out of the question as was her mother. "My father is from Earth," Keiko said, hoping to steer the conversation to more pleasant similarities between them. "He's a scientist too. Nothing nearly as kick ass as being an archeologist though. Just boring brain science." Keiko gave a small smile. "I'd much rather be digging in the dirt though." |

Lara shook her head at the apology, "Don't be sorry. I don't tell really personal things like that to just anyone. It could be a gift of yours." She winked a bit as the conversation grew a bit lighter. "Honestly the stuff with grandmother is something that I am still...processing. So no worries." She laughed at the comment about digging in the dirt as she thought about Indian Jones movies. "Well some movies have really glorified the digging in the dirt though I do have to admit it is a lot of fun. My dad let's me come to his digs. He will send me some cool pieces he finds. It would be fun to look in the brain at times." She giggled slightly, "or at least making people twitch with just the slight pressure on the brain." |

Keiko chuckled. "As you said movies glorify most of that stuff. Everything is done digitally and with scans now. So I rarely have had the opportunity to poke at the brain," Keiko said. "They both work on Mars now, at one of the hospitals. I think they miss Earth though. Do you miss Earth? Is your dad coming today?" |

Lara felt her body relax a bit. It was nice to just sit and chat even if her ice cream was fully finished now. She thought about missing Earth, so many bad memories to shuffle through. "In all honesty, no. It never really felt like home, you know. Pluto was the place that captured my heart which I really do miss." She wondered if it would still feel like home even after all that had happened. It would be hard to know until she went back to the place she knew best. It also begged the question about how things would changed now that she was a princess. She smiled as she answered about her father. "Honestly I don't even know. It has been some time since I have talked to him. The last conversation left on more of a sour note. Are your parents coming?" |

Keiko crinkled her nose at Lara's question. "Yeah, I think so. But the whole idea bothers them greatly. And they were not about to keep quiet to my grandmother about it. Actually I think the whole idea bothers me too. But I find the attention draining and annoying." |

Lara was a little confused with the answer. She titled her head slightly as she asked, "The idea of coming here you mean and the attention you will be getting from them?" |

"Sorry, I meant the whole coronation, royalty stuff. My mother separated herself from it a long time ago. I think if I didn't have any abilities that she would have kept her life separated from it still," Keiko shrugged again and pushed her empty bowl of ice cream away from her. "And I personally just don't care for any type of attention. You can only fake smile for so long before your muscles get sore." |

Lara nodded her head in understanding. She had to say that she truly never really was one for being the center of attention. Hiding off in some corner was more of her style to say the least. Part of her started to wonder the reasons behind the separation though it did not matter since her mother was long gone. She laughed at the last comment. "I can only imagine. I guess you and I are similar, attention is something that we rarely enjoy." She got up from the table as she noticed the bowl pushed away from Keiko. Her mind racked over other places that she could show this raven haired girl. She had to admit to herself that she did rather like the company. It was nice nice to talk to some one who was gifted in a sense. "Shall we?" |
