I don't know how many of you have ever read (or even heard) of the Sword of Truth novels by Terry Goodkind, but they are an excellent set of books.

Just so you know, it's a fantasy series.

The first book, Wizard's First Rule, is a basic fantasy quest novel. Nothing spetacular about it, though it is well-written. (I'm not sure, but I have the feeling that this book was written as a single piece.) The following novels pick up where the previous novel dropped off. Basically, the series is sequential.

The books are...

1. Wizard's First Rule
2. Stone of Tears
3. Blood of the Fold
4. Temple of the Winds
5. Soul of the Fire
6. Faith of the Fallen
7. The Pillars of Creation
8. Naked Empire
9. Chainfire

There is also a novella called Debt of Bones, which takes place a number of years before book 1. Book 10, Phantom, is due to be released around the middle of this year.

This series goes way beyond most fantasy series. It deals with mre than just magic, but also with humanity, morals, and ideals. Even if you're not a fan of the fantasy genre, chances are you'll find this series excellent.

IMO, Faith of the Fallen is the best book. I suggest this to just about anyone.

Although, there is quite a bit of graphic violence and sexuality, so if you're offended by those things... Ah, forget that, read 'em anyway!

i LOVE this series. i've read all of the books at least 3 times, if not more. these books should become classic's after Terry Goodkind is finally done with the series, which im getting the feeling he'll probably be writing it till he die's. he's already put so many twists to the story lines

But where is that? Is it in me?
Or is it in you? Or is it somewhere
Out there, hiding from us?

Actually, I heard that he'll be writing only 12 or so. Which means that when Phantom is released somewhere around this June, since Phantom is book 10, there'll only be 2 more. :(

i havent heard about that. but it could be true, though. the storyline that he's doing now shouldn't take too many more books to finish. i'm a writer myself, and i can usually tell when thinks are starting to wrap up. it will be a sad day when that series finishes. It's one of the best i've ever read, next to The Lord of the Rings.

Yeah, SoT is one of my favorite series as well, along with the Dragonriders of Pern and the Vampire Chronicles. M y all-time favorite SoT novel is Faith of the Fallen. Excellent read, right there.

I just love all the books. It's hard for me to pick any one book as my favorite. The storyline's that Terry Goodkind creates just get's you hooked, and you just want to keep on reading, and just want to find out what's going to happen to everybody.
