on a sidenote, i'd just like to mention that last week's Edge vs Morrison match was the best match I've seen all year.
They are two of my favorites... But I prefer Morrison as a bad guy...

The Bash was standard WWE. Some stuff that was pure awesome (Jericho vs. Rey round 3, still fantastic), some stuff that was greatness mixed with wtf? (CM Punk and Jeff Hardy had a really good match, but would it really be so hard for them to actually put over Punk clean at some point? Or even...just sorta clean? Like...make him look at least a little bit like he could feasibly beat another top guy in a straight up one-on-one match?), and some stuff that makes you wonder why you even bother with the company (Two or three months of Miz being the most entertaining part of Raw and building him up, only to have John Cena squash him in under five minutes).

This is why WWE drives me crazy. On one show, they can simultaneously display both how great they can be and how terrible they can be.

Still, though...Jericho vs. Rey was one hell of a feud.
Once upon a time, a man lived. This man was a man who really lived. He was the best there was at what he did, living. Living is what he did, and he did it well. In fact, he did it too well. He lived so well that he made other people stop living. That is why he had to be stopped. To stop him, they sent Rimo.

i disagree with your stance on Punk. They are trying to make him a heel..or at least a semi-heel. No clean victories for him, I don't get why you want to see one. You don't ever say that about anyone else turning heel.

The difference here lies in how they're turning Punk heel. Part of what has made it such a great turn is that it's a slow burn. With the exception of his post-match GTS on Morrison, he hasn't -actually- done anything heelish, he's just focusing on holding onto his belt.

More importantly, though, I'm not just talking about being unable to win without using some dirty heel tactics. That's what heels do, that's fine. I don't mind Edge or Jericho or anyone else needing dirty tactics to win a match. However, those guys aren't booked to look like they don't really belong at the top. They are made to look like main eventers who can hold their own against the top faces, but decide to cheat to get the advantage. Punk is being made to look, once again, like he just isn't in the same league as the "real" main eventers.

I want to be fair, though, because now this is coming across like I haven't been enjoying this feud. I really, really have. Outside of the great Jericho/Rey stuff, the Punk/Hardy stuff has been the second best thing going in WWE. I just think that they needed to show us that Punk could beat Jeff, even if he did use an underhanded tactic or two, and they chose not to do that. This has been the only chapter of the feud I've even remotely disliked.

don't really see what the difference here is than with Edge. He won his first title with the MIB cheat, just like Punk. And he hasn't won even one title yet without cheating....and it's been years now.

why do you think they make Edge look like he can hang but not Punk? looks like the same scenario to me, except that Punk isn't completely evil yet.

Again, I'm talking about the difference between using heel tactics and flat out being booked as inferior. In a main event level Edge match, Edge will be made to look like it's realistic that he could have possibly won without cheating.

I think the problem actually lies in the fact that they still haven't really established that Punk truly belongs at the top yet. Even a pure heel on their way to the top will be given clean wins (by clean, I don't mean "no cheating whatsoever," I mean "when it came down to it in the end, the heel hits a wrestling move that leads to a 3 count"), and then once they're on top, they will continue to get those wins. CM Punk has never really been given that on a top level. He was treated like a joke in his first title run on Raw, never truly recovered from that, and now we still aren't seeing him being able to beat top guys. At no point has it been made clear that Punk is on the same level as any of the other main eventers. If they had done a good job of making it clear that he belongs where he is right now, then I actually wouldn't have had any problems at all with the finish to the Punk/Hardy match.

Wow, they really ripped the ECW roster to shreds. WWE has announced the full list of trades, though I know there are people here who would see this as a spoiler, so I'll just go ahead and post a link to a page that has the complete list.

So, yeah...ECW really took one for the team here.
