In an investors conference call today, Vince McMahon announced that the Survivor Series name had "outlived its usefulness" and that they would not be using it anymore. So unless something changes between now and next November, we have seen the final Survivor Series. |
Once upon a time, a man lived. This man was a man who really lived. He was the best there was at what he did, living. Living is what he did, and he did it well. In fact, he did it too well. He lived so well that he made other people stop living. That is why he had to be stopped. To stop him, they sent Rimo.

Agreed, I'm gonna miss it. However, an interesting thing about this, wwe.com put up an official survey (Not just a poll on their website, but an actual survey that you submit to them) asking what PPV concept you would be interested in seeing added to their line-up. They have a few things listed like Money in the Bank and Street Fights, but really interesting is the fact that they have two old WCW concepts on the list in Battle Bowl and War Games. Personally, if WWE is replacing Survivor Series with a new big show, I would love to see War Games take its place. ...Although, come to think of it right now, in a lot of games a War Games match is just a reverse Survivor Series match. Hm. Also, just to note, would be rad to see you at 'Mania 29/30, BX! And Kai, I actually briefly considered taking a trip to Phoenix this year (Especially since I could then not only do 'Mania, but also attend the HoF and the Ring of Honor and Dragon Gate shows that weekend. Yes, I'm psychotic, and yes, I would do all of that). Ultimately, though, I decided against it. Vancouver, however, is just so damn close to Seattle that I would be unable to resist. |

well given that they already have TLC, Hell In A Cell, Elimination Chamber and Extreme Rules PPV's i don't see the point of adding ANOTHER gimic PPV like Money In The Bank, Street Fights, Battle Bowl or War Games... on that same note i would LOVE to see a War Games PPV but i would rather they replace one of the current gimic PPV's with it and not Survivor Series. At the end of the day i wish they would go back to a 5 or 6 PPV a year rotation... January - Royal Rumble March - No Way Out May - Wrestlemania July - move Summer Slam here September - Fall Brawl w/ War Games or just call it War Games November - Survivor Series and on the inbetween months they could do a Saturday Nights Main Event show. |

Just announced today, as of Monday, March 8th, TNA Impact will be making a permanent move to Monday nights. |

REALLY bad idea, TNA is gonna get slaughtered moving to Monday nights so close to Wrestlemania. they barely broke a 3 in the ratings on January 4th and that was only because of the debut of Hogan. |

They're going to get beaten in the ratings, agreed, but their first Monday night show did the highest rating Impact has ever seen. Since then, TNA has been on a streak of pulling in 1.3-1.4's consistently, which is something they've never managed before. Certainly, at this point, they aren't going to go up and start beating WWE, but I think the only way they can really capitalize on the momentum they've built is to make the big move. That said, if I was TNA, I would have instead made the announcement that as of March 29th they would be making the big move. That's the Monday after WrestleMania, and there's always a wrestling buzz on that day. So I do agree with you that they shouldn't be doing this during the build to 'Mania. |

that may be true about TNA's ratings the only problem with that that i can see is that most of those new fans are also WWE fans that tune in mondays for RAW and thursdays for TNA iMPACT. i'm willing to bet that if they try to go up against RAW on a weekly baises that those ratings numbers will drop off very quickly as the WWE fans tune into RAW and not iMPACT. |

I definitely agree that that's certainly a possibility, and a risk that TNA is running here. I think the story is going to be told with the flux fans. Obviously, there are fans who are going to watch Raw no matter what every week, and fans who are going to watch Impact no matter what (albeit a much smaller group there), and then there will be a group of fans who will sort of keep an eye on both shows and decide which to watch. That last group of fans, in all honesty, is WWE's to either keep or to lose. I know there's at least a decent chunk of fans out there like me who look at things like Hornswoggle and terrible guest host segments wasting time on the shows (this, of course, excludes William Shatner, who was awesome), and will say "The hell with it, I wonder who TNA has booked to grovel at the feet of Hulk Hogan this week" and head over to Impact. I think you're much more likely to see a flow of flux fans moving from WWE to TNA than the other way around, simply because the wrestling audience that is already installed on Monday nights is the Raw audience. So the question will simply be how many of them will switch over. I really wouldn't expect it to be a huge amount. Like I've said, Raw will kick Impact's ass in the ratings. But it will be a telling story if Raw goes down from around the 3.0-3.4 it does to maybe around a 2.8 or 2.9, and Impact jumps up to maybe a 1.5 or 1.6. At the very least, it's going to be really interesting to see what happens. |
