What a career slide.

Ron Simmons went from WCW Champion to a "Black Spartacus" to a "Black Militant" to a "Drunken Brawler Who Smokes Cigars" to "Guy Who Is Fired".

"Damn"
What is the terror of death?
That we die, our work incomplete.
What is the joy of life?
To die knowing our task is done.

lol, This is a great tale of Vince McMahon's great and caring management.

So, rewind back to the latter days of the APA, leading up to the brand split. As you may recall, the APA were originally split up when they branded the shows, with Bradshaw going to Raw and Faarooq to SmackDown. Well, Faarooq knew at that point in time that his career was winding down, so he stayed on SmackDown for a few months before retiring to become a road agent for the company. Not long after that, Bradshaw got injured. When Bradshaw returned from his injury, they asked Faarooq to come out of retirement so they could put the APA back together on SmackDown. So yeah, for a few months, the APA were back together on SmackDown, up until Faarooq's contract ran up. At that point in time, Vince decided he wanted to give Bradshaw his solo push as JBL, and therefore had no more use for Faarooq and, in essence, fired him by not signing him back.

Yep. That's right. Faarooq retired willingly, was brought out of retirement by Vince, and then fired.

WWE has signed an old name from the attitude era back. Fortunately, it's not Rock or Stone Cold (I love 'em as much as the rest of you guys, but let's face it, signing one of them would only serve to keep the company in its state of trying to live in the past instead of moving on into the future). Unfortunately, it's probably my least favorite guy from the attitude era. Anyway, WWE has just signed...

I'm happy to see Jeff Hardy come back. Now if we can get the New Age Outlaws and Christian back from that God Awful show all will be good with the world.

Vote for Layla!

lol, Voting for Layla would involve participating in the Diva Search, which would then imply that the Diva Search isn't one of the single dumbest things to ever emerge from the mind of Vince McMahon.

Anyway, I know we've had this debate several times before, but since things just keep getting worse and worse in this company, I can't help but say...how on earth can somebody call TNA God awful, but not WWE right now? The thing is, TNA is starting to frustrate me a bit as well, and so I can understand someone not being a fan of the show, but look at the two main choices right now: One of them has horribly written storylines and cards which have generally half or fewer good matches on them (including such "talents" as Great Khali, Boogeyman, Mark Henry, and Batista)...the other has horribly written storylines and cards which usually only have one match that's even sub-par. I just don't see how WWE is even comparable to TNA at the moment.

Alas, we need some good writers back, for both WWE and TNA.

...And in a semi-unrelated note, I love hearing WWE and specifically Vince McMahon talk about how TNA isn't even on their radar, when on Raw they've got an undefeated Samoan monster (and they're heavily pushing the undefeated aspect of him), and on SmackDown they just introduced a guy being managed by a Ron Killings clone.

Okay, I feel like this post has been too negative, so I want to put something happy in it. As much as SmackDown has gotten screwed up by everyone on the roster getting hurt or in trouble because of the drug policy (Matt Hardy, Tatanka, and Super Crazy are now all off active duty or will be shortly), it is creating a great opportunity for WWE to create some new characters and give them some screen time to see if they'll really catch on. It's actually going to be really interesting to watch SmackDown over the next few weeks just to see how it evolves.

TNA...it's just lame. Boring to watch, both the matches and what little storylines they have. Even ECW blows TNA out of the water. I hate that Christian is a part of that crappy show.

Jeff Hardy...yeah baby. I would say bring back the Hardy Boys but maybe not. Tag divisions blow in both brands right now.

Diva Search....thank the lord for DVR.

Raw....as hillarious as I think DX is, it gets old seeing the same side getting the upper hand every week.

Smackdown....more Booker T, more Mr. Kennedy. Lose Sharmel.

TNA, I'll move on from again. We all know where we all stand on TNA right now, so that's all been said. I just wish TNA would smarten up about Samoa Joe, instead of pulling a WWE on him and suddenly cutting out his momentum by sticking him in a feud he has no business in right now.

Jeff Hardy...what's the appeal? The man can't work a match to save his life, and his character is annoying as hell. All he is capable of doing is poorly executed high spots and, granted, pretty cool big bumps. While his spots are the clips from the TLC matches that get shown (and those are very cool moments, don't get me wrong), it was the other five men in those matches who put them together and made them such classics, as opposed to just pointless spotfests.

Diva Search...blast it all, Kai, I wish I had DVR!

I'm getting sick of DX. I thought they were very funny at first, but now it's just a couple of 35-40 year old men acting like teenagers and doing the same jokes every week (The Vince loves cock thing was funny...once. Now it's a t-shirt. Great). Again, on the plus side, this seems to have invigorated a pair of wrestlers who were getting stale, and I hope after DX splits up they can both keep up this new energy they've found. Also on the Raw side, how awesome is Edge?

As for SmackDown...I agree about more Booker and more Kennedy, and I used to agree about dumping Sharmell. I think she makes a great heel, though, so until Booker turns face again, I'd love to see them keep her around. JBL is the worst commentator in history, and I think all of his flaws just help to underscore what made Tazz such an amazing one. SmackDown could have a good tag division if they did some damage control. Kendrick & London and the Pit Bulls are both excellent teams, they just need to put the Mexicools back together once Super Crazy returns, and switch Nitro back to reform MNM. That gives you four solid teams, and then they can work to help future teams get better. I could see a Hardy Boyz return (if Jeff wasn't going to Raw, that is), but I would hope it would just be a brief one or two month reign as champs before dropping them back to another team and using that as a launching pad to get Matt's career going again. I say Matt instead of Jeff not out of any personal bias against Jeff, though, but simply because Jeff is proven to be unreliable. He was fired from WWE because he kept skipping shows because he felt like it, and TNA got rid of him for the same reason. Pushing Jeff is just a stupid mistake. And now I'm getting sidetracked. Anyway, yeah...tag division on SmackDown can be saved, I hope they go for it.

And ECW...well, the show was horrid at first. There are still problems with it (While Kurt Angle is an awesome addition, people like Big Show, Test, Mike Knox, and Mordecai have no business being on the ECW roster), but overall I think we've seen a solid improvement. Tommy Dreamer has -always- been used as a way of getting other people over, even in the old ECW, so I don't really have a problem with the way they're using him. The thing with Dreamer, though, is that they've never done anything to get him over with the WWE audience, so I would like to see them do that before using him in the role of putting others over. Sandman is one of those guys who will always get a pop, period. He doesn't need to be pushed to the top anymore, so I'm all for the way he's being used. Balls...fun to have around. And of course, CM Punk. Hell freakin' yes. I love that they're limiting his time in the ring right now, since it makes his matches feel more special. CM Punk is a future ECW champion, no questions asked (well...unless Stephanie gets to take over ECW creative, too. Then we can expect the end of the CM Punk push). The top of the card is just awesome right now. If you take out Big Show, you've got Rob Van Dam, Sabu, and Kurt Angle all fighting for the belt. Any combination of those will produce something awesome, and this also actually feels like an ECW style feud. Very, very cool.

And on a more important note...

UUUUUUUUUUMAGAAAAAAA!!!!
