HBK.....
As a good guy? Maybe he did I don't remember him doing that, but you could be right... The good bad guys always get people cheering for them...
I guess if you count the Brett hate/love thing. When he fought Hogan he turned heel. When he fought the Undertaker they were both good guys.
Cena has the distinction of having people boo him just because they hate him

As I always say wrestling is about getting a reaction... You want people either loving you or hating you... Making Cena perfect because he gets both without changing character. No other Face wrestler has ever been able to do that...
HBK True....and Triple-H

You cant expect 110% from others, when most times, they don't expect even 90% from themselves. -- Me. No matter how hard your day, no matter how tough your choices, how complex your ethical decisions, you always get to choose what you have for lunch.

As for Cena...he was "fired" for all of three weeks, showing up on Raw and getting mic time on every episode during that period, and then "brought back." When WWE starts to wonder why there are fans out there who just cannot freaking stand John Cena, they need to stop and look at how they booked that angle. If they really stop to think about it, it might just give them an idea as to why he makes some fans tune out.
so what was the story of him getting brought back? did someone lose a bet/match? I'm assuming...no longer with Nexus? So after Cena was fired, he kept showing up and attacking the various Nexus members. Eventually, Barrett said he knew what Cena was doing, trying to get Barrett to let him come back so that he could have a match against him, and that he wasn't going to fall for it. Cena then said that if Barrett brought him back, that he wouldn't stop harrassing Wade, but he would leave the other Nexus members alone. That lead to the Nexus giving Barrett an ultimatum, that either he brought Cena back or they would kick him out of Nexus. So Wade brought Cena back, and now apparently has been kicked out of Nexus anyway.

Once upon a time, a man lived. This man was a man who really lived. He was the best there was at what he did, living. Living is what he did, and he did it well. In fact, he did it too well. He lived so well that he made other people stop living. That is why he had to be stopped. To stop him, they sent Rimo.

The problem with John Cena is that nobody else is allowed to get over on him, which creates a much larger problem for the company. Is it great that Cena gets a reaction? Yes, of course it is, and as much as I dislike him I'm not going to sit here and say that he doesn't belong as a main eventer. However, it is WWE's responsibility to try and make sure that there are as many characters on their shows as possible getting those huge reactions, but the way they book Cena as Superman that nobody can ever defeat hinders the progress of literally every other person on the roster. For example, just imagine how over Wade Barrett would be as a character right now if at some point he had actually, you know, beaten Cena during their feud. Imagine what it would do for Punk, already arguably the best heel in the entire company, if his feud with Cena wasn't just going to end in him tapping out to an STF. And hell, imagine the business it would do for WWE if we didn't all already know one week into the feud that that was exactly what would happen at the end. The problem isn't that Cena gets a mixed reaction. The problem is that WWE only seems concerned with making sure that Cena gets a reaction. I think it was the same way with Stone Cold. Nobody ever got the better of him. Sure, a gang of people would lay him out with some steal chairs at the end of RAW, but the next week you'd know he'd get his revenge.
I like how they handled the Rock...arguable the most popular WWE personality ever. Yes, he bested people with words on just about every episode, but he got his ass kicked just as often as he himself layed the smack down. You never knew with him whether he was going to win or lose. Austin, you pretty much always knew he'd win.

Austin, you pretty much always knew he'd win. You're right in that people rarely got the better of Stone Cold. However, it was booked in a different way, where he was almost entirely used against other fully established main eventers. Thinking back, during Austin's reign as the top guy, I mainly remember him beating the likes of The Rock, Undertaker, and Triple H. And actually, as I'm thinking about it, in the case of Triple H I remember when he was first establishing himself as a real top star and having a feud in which Austin put him over pretty much cleanly multiple times. That right there is something I have yet to see John Cena do for anyone (again, I acknowledge that that's WWE's fault, and not Cena's).
Maybe it was just that he was a smarter worker than John, but I don't ever remember feeling like another young career had just been kicked in the balls by Stone Cold like I constantly do with John Cena.

My favorite Austin era was during the Alliance days. He was such an ass, the way he was always belittling his Kurt Angle sidekick and started that annoying "WHAT?" chant. lol
He was fun to hate in those days.
