I told you Vince was going to get his head shaved. Kennedy winning the Money In The Bank is not really a surprise. How long was it then? It seems that there were a lot fewer matches than WM 21/22. "That's not a bad thing, that's a GOOD thing."

I've gotta agree that hate is a strong word. I get extremely frustrated with WWE's constant poor decision making, but that's only directed at the creative team that's been running it for the last few years as opposed to WWE itself. When WWE is good, I'm as big a fan of it as anyone. Anyway, to answer your question, Kai... While I'm watching wrestling, I always have a very hard time not enjoying it. As irritated as I get, wrestling is still something that I love, and so unless there's something that's just terribly insulting on my screen (such as Dr. Heiney) or flat-out bad wrestling (Kane vs. Khali), I'm digging on it. This especially goes for WrestleMania, which no matter what always has that special aura about it that makes it fun to watch. So, as for WrestleMania this year...it was an alright show, but unfortunately, it's going to wind up being completely unmemorable, which is something they could have fixed by switching around the order of the matches. For the life of me, I can't figure out why on earth you wouldn't close the show with the special moment of Undertaker winning the championship for what will in all likeliness be his final reign. I think if you'd ended the show with that moment, then WrestleMania 23 would stick out in fans minds as the 'Mania Undertaker won the belt again. As it stands, the final moment of 'Mania 23 was...John Cena retaining his title. Again. The problem here is that there's just nothing special about that. At 'Mania 21, we saw John Cena win the WWE Championship match. At 'Mania 22, we saw John Cena win the WWE Championship match. So...at 'Mania 23, when we see John Cena win the WWE Championship match, it's just more of the same. Now, I'm not saying Cena shouldn't have kept his belt, just that if they were going to do that, then there's no way that Undertaker shouldn't have been the special moment to close the show. Okay, specifically to the eight matches... MITB to me was the only -really- good thing on here. This was booked really well to let each of the eight guys have their moments, and no surprise, Jeff and Edge had the bump from hell, which was awesome. Kennedy winning is definitely not a surprise, but that doesn't make it any less cool that he won. Kane vs. Khali is what we all expected it to be, a train wreck. Going into this thing, there was no chance this could turn out well, and it didn't. Also, it's sort of funny that their original plan of having Hogan slam Big Show 20 years after Andre wound up gradually evolving into Kane slamming Great Khali. Not quite the same vibe there... Chris Benoit vs. MVP I give thumbs up to, and I have to say, I saw a lot more out of MVP here than I thought was there. This is the first time he's caught my eye, and I'll be paying a bit more attention to him from here on out. Benoit getting the win was a good call. Undertaker vs. Batista...as I said, I have no idea why it was at this point in the card, but that's beside the point. Undertaker did what I figured he would, and that's find a way to drag a pretty good match out of Batista (although, he didn't get as good of a show out of Batista as Triple H did). Batista also probably did the only cool thing he ever has done or ever will do with that running power slam onto the announce table. Undertaker getting the win is truly awesome, and that's coming from someone who doesn't even consider himself that big a 'Taker fan. New Breed vs. Originals was actually a nice little match. The win for the Originals surprised the hell out of me, and as an old school ECW fan, was very, very cool. It was also awesome for me to see Tommy Dreamer on WrestleMania. And also, considering that both WWE and RVD are working on the assumption that he won't be there after his contract runs up later this year, I was surprised to see him get the pin. Battle of the Billionaires...this wasn't really to my taste, but I can see why people would dig it. The issues I have with it are that it tied up the ECW and Intercontinental Championships, and on top of that, it was about Vince, Trump, and Stone Cold...and even Shane, a bit...much moreso than it was about Lashley or Umaga. Still, it was a fun little bit. And again, I want to give Vince McMahon credit for booking himself in an angle to get his head shaved. Ashley vs. Melina was the only other pure disaster of the night. Melina did what she could to make this watchable, but Ashley is just a complete waste of space. At least it was short, and at least Melina is still the champion. Cena vs. HBK...as I expected, they put together a good match. Shawn Michaels has proven time and time again that when he's put in a big match situation, he delivers like no one else. John Cena, for his limitations in ability, knows how to put on a really good show. I'm not surprised John Cena got the win here, but again, the show closing with John Cena holding up the belt he's had for the better part of the last 2 years just feels pretty bland. So...yeah. Enjoyable, I liked it...but no one's going to remember this WrestleMania as anything important ten years from now. |
Once upon a time, a man lived. This man was a man who really lived. He was the best there was at what he did, living. Living is what he did, and he did it well. In fact, he did it too well. He lived so well that he made other people stop living. That is why he had to be stopped. To stop him, they sent Rimo.

relax guys. i was using the slang meaning of "hater".....more like hate-uh. Meaning, those who knock on WWE alot. Kane/Kali = boring boring boring women = boring boring boring Benoit/MVP = boring. I know you guys don't want to hear this, but any match with Benoit in it is extremely boring. I forward through his matches usually...same as Flair. money in the bank = lots of fun to watch. it was no TLC, but it was still great. Is Jeff Hardy EVER in a ladder match where he doesn't somehow take himself out of a match?? LOL . Booker T surrendering the briefcase for Sharmel was kinda sweet. I thought for sure that he'd choose the briefcase. LOL. Batista/Taker - Better than I expected. Good match ECW = eh. didn't really care about it. Cena/HBK = a great match. Yeah, we all know that Cena sells more T-shirts to the kids for WWE so they are going to KEEP shoving him down our throats...but putting that aside, it was a really enjoyable match. Lots of reversals which made it that much more fun. Good match other than the LAME Cena entrance. |
