I am finding it hard to watch the tribute from last night... I watched half yesterday before the news that Benoit is possibly responsible for the death of his family. Now everytime someone mentions how much he loved his family really rubs me the wrong way...

We have to see what the police findings are....

I was afraid of that. I haven't watched it yet but I have it on DVR and was planning on watching tonight. Now I'm not so sure.

I'm having a really hard time with this personally, as Chris Benoit was someone I have spent the last ten years looking up to and admiring as someone who was an icon of everything I loved about professional wrestling. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that to try to make this about myself, I'm just saying that this will probably be the only time I post on this, because at the moment I just want to forget about the whole thing.

It is absolutely heartbreaking that someone who is easily one of the top ten in-ring performers of all time is going to have his legacy be that he killed his family and then himself. There will be no Hall of Fame for Chris Benoit. WWE has removed all mention of Chris Benoit, including merchandise and older links, from their website. There will be no beautiful three disc DVD set for Chris Benoit. Future DVD sets of people like Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, and Kurt Angle (if he ever gets one) will most likely not have footage of Chris Benoit on them. A 20+ year career filled with passion and intensity was completely for nothing, as from a wrestling perspective, he is now doomed to be forgotten as the guy who killed his family. For me personally, ten years spent feeling so passionate about Chris Benoit as a performer, feeling so elated at his highs, and so frustrated by his lows, now feel like a complete waste. The hardest thing of all to me is that the most beautiful moment in the history of professional wrestling -- without any question -- is the end of WrestleMania XX, with Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero in the ring with their championships. That moment will never be beautiful again.

Obviously, the most important thing here is that three people have died. That is drastically more important than the fact that a wrestler's legacy is irrepairably tarnished. But...I just wanted to get that all out there.
Once upon a time, a man lived. This man was a man who really lived. He was the best there was at what he did, living. Living is what he did, and he did it well. In fact, he did it too well. He lived so well that he made other people stop living. That is why he had to be stopped. To stop him, they sent Rimo.

Sorry GLT. It's got to be tough to know someone who you admired so much will now only have an infamous legacy.

This story is getting worse and worse.

The one you want to kill
Some people when they burn out they burn out like a super nova

I wish he did not take his wife and child with him .... that is selfish

Thank God he killed himself as well, instead of getting a fancy lawyer and spending the next 30 years eating steak and lobster in prison.

No steak and lobster in hell, killer. :bye:

I was thinking something similar... I really don't think the WWE fared well if Benoit had killed his family and claimed his innocence..

They're going to somehow try to link this to steroids and somehow blame the WWE for it. Too bad too. I wish they would just leave it at one psychotic moron and not try to make it about something bigger. The WWE, no matter what is discovered is going to be made into the bad guys here.....mark my words.
