I am not blaming Vince. First off, we don't even know that steroids were involved, but for the sake of simplifying this post so I don't have to keep qualifying my statements with "if there were steroids" let's just for the moment say that there were. Vince still never forced Chris Benoit to take them. And, more importantly, Vince McMahon did not go into roid rage that led him to kill his family. Chris Benoit did all that, and that should not be transferred to Vince. However, what do you think goes through the mind of a super talented young wrestler like Shelton Benjamin who works Heat every week when he sees a talentless jacked-up 'roid monster like Big Dave getting a main event push on SmackDown every week? Vince does send a very clear message to the wrestlers that -- with *very* rare exception -- if you have a large, muscular physique, that matters far more than any in-ring ability as far as a push goes. That is blatant encouragement of steroids. Again, it still falls on the individual's shoulders if they want to go ahead and make the terrible decision to take them, and this is why Chris Benoit must shoulder the blame for this. However, in any tragedy involving a WWE performer on 'roids, Vince can never be 100% innocent. |
Once upon a time, a man lived. This man was a man who really lived. He was the best there was at what he did, living. Living is what he did, and he did it well. In fact, he did it too well. He lived so well that he made other people stop living. That is why he had to be stopped. To stop him, they sent Rimo.

You know as well as I do that being big and muscular doesn't get you a push. Just look at Chris Masters. Had the best body in the WWE but no push. Shelton just doesn't have the personality and ring presence that's required of a Championship Caliber star. Maybe one day he will.....but he will have to work longer and harder than anyone else who just clicks well with the fans, like Cena (gag) and Batista do. Benoit proved that it can be done though...no personality....just hard work ethic, it just took him longer than most because of his lack of personality.
I was with you until you said that. You are still blaming Vince to some degree. That's the last thing that you (a wrestling fan) should be doing right now. You know the media is going to do this, they have already started. The fans need to back the business right now instead of trashing it. Don't you dare take any blame away from Benoit. He deserves 100% of the blame....not even a little should go to Vince. |

Okay, so let's go past Shelton, because I had a feeling that was gonna be used as a knock against him. Let's take a look at someone who has proven that he is a very good worker who also has shown he can talk and has star potential: Val Venis. Where's Val right now? He's also working Heat every week. Chris Masters is a good example of a counter argument, but just because there are exceptions doesn't mean it isn't true. Batista is a main eventer on SmackDown. Snitsky is being geared up for a run at the top of Raw. Hell, even the reason Masters got moved to SmackDown is because Vince wanted to see if he could find a way of getting him at the top of the card. Bobby Lashley has never really connected with the crowd, and he is one of the most heavily pushed stars in the company. Speaking of connecting with the crowd, here's someone else I'd like to point to...Rob Van Dam. Now, yes, RVD did get a title run last year, but we all know perfectly well that the -only- reason that happened was to get over the new ECW brand. Besides that, here's someone who the crowd loved as much as anyone else in the company, but at best he was never used as more than an upper mid-card guy. I'm sorry, but the fact that his promos weren't great does not negate the rest of what that man had going for him. It's just a simple fact that steroids are encouraged in WWE, regardless of whether or not anyone actually comes out and says "use steroids." Anyway, I've been worried about posting all of this stuff, because I was afraid you guys would misunderstand where I'm coming from. I despise Chris Benoit. I honestly feel like that chunk of my heart that was dedicated to loving professional wrestling has been painfully ripped out. I feel betrayed and heartbroken. You're not going to hear me say a positive thing about Chris Benoit. I think the main thing I'm saying is...if steroids come out as having involvement in what happened, we need to see a change in WWE. |

Val Venis got boring...plain and simple. Good wrestler but his gimick got old. I think RTC should have been around longer. Having people break out of RTC to back to their old sinful ways and then end up fighting with RTC about it would have been fun to watch. And it would have given big pushes to those who did break out. Val would have been perfect for this. So what about Masters getting moved. That's the whole reason they move people around....to see if they can click somewhere else because they get stale in their current venue. Same goes for Snitsky. Lashley gets huge pops every appearance. How can you say he doesn't click with the crowd? You may think he and Batista lack pure wrestling ability, but they both are exciting to watch. Batistas bombs and Lashley's overall explosions in the ring are awesome. Thats what makes a good champion.....being exciting to watch. RVD just can't talk....that's his problem. He's stoned most of the time. It's not fair to say "Steroids are encouraged in the WWE". But they are definately no discouraged either. |

I am very happy for Nitro he has done a great job for the last year... Edge, Johnny Nitro, CM Punk, Booker, Kennedy, Carlito, Finley, ... Normal sized guys the crowd loves... And all of them getting plenty of play |

I will buy the fact that Booker wasn't on 'roids back in the day, but I'm not so sure anymore. If you compare how big he is now to how big he was in WCW, it doesn't necessarily seem like the most natural growth. CM Punk is pushed almost begrudgingly. There are actually a lot of similarities I see there between he and RVD. Finlay is used heavily because he got himself a lot of political stroke backstage. Not that I'm complaining, I love the hell out of the guy. Kennedy, Nitro, Edge, I'll agree on. Carlito...um...well, let's just say, he's the poster boy for the argument I'm trying to make. |

Booker isn't pumped. Where are you getting that from? He's just older and a bit fatter, that's all I see. |
