Wait. Isn't that a little ass backwards? Everyone else was able to give a little speech and hand it over. Why not Cena?

The situation with Cena is a little different in that he got hurt -right- before a PPV. Since he was off getting examined the day of the ECW/SmackDown taping, he was unable to appear, and they had to announce the situation to the crowd before the PPV so that fans wouldn't buy the show expecting to see Cena.
Once upon a time, a man lived. This man was a man who really lived. He was the best there was at what he did, living. Living is what he did, and he did it well. In fact, he did it too well. He lived so well that he made other people stop living. That is why he had to be stopped. To stop him, they sent Rimo.

So, let's see...how many bad decisions can a company make in one night surrounding one belt?

...Eh, okay. I typed up a whole rant about how stupid WWE was tonight, but after reading it, I decided to delete it. You guys know my feelings about The Chosen Son, so most of what I said was just redundant. What I do want to leave on here is how unfathomably stupid it is to have Orton ultimately leave with the belt. On a more basic level, what you have is a guy who has mediocre ring skills, absolutely zero charisma, and has never gotten over as a main event guy (upper midcarder, sure...but not top of the card). However, more importantly, this guy was one of the names who came out on that very public list. Now, yes, he got to avoid a suspension, because he had already been busted once on that same violation of the policy, but that doesn't change the fact that they just put their premiere championship on somebody who was on that list.

Now before someone points this out, if Triple H had emerged victorious at the end of the show, I would be bitching about the fact that, what a shock, Triple H got to display how much better he is than everybody else. It's true, I would be complaining regardless of who won that match. It is beyond me why they couldn't find somebody better to fill that spot, even if they had to borrow someone from another roster. Or...all signs point to WWE having signed Chris Jericho back to a contract. If that's true, then there's absolutely -no- excuse for why he wasn't their boy tonight.

Okay, rant off. Otherwise...it was a "meh" show. On the good side, the six man tag was pretty fun, as was Rey vs. Finlay. On the bad, Candice and Phoenix didn't mesh as well this month as they did last, CM Punk was completely squashed by Big Daddy V, and while this shouldn't be too much of a surprise, the Punjabi Prison was utterly terrible.

Yeah, RKO is like the biggest superstar that RAW has right now. I don't really get how you wouldn't think he is championship material GLT. So he got busted for roids, that doesn't make him any worse than the 95% of the past champs who've used them but just didn't get busted.

In-ring performance, charisma, and ability to get reactions from the crowd is what the champion should posess. RKO has as much of that stuff as any other current superstar. So what if he has an attitude problem backstage. It's nowhere near as bad as Hart's was. The championship is fake, the title is fake, it's all an act and it's all about entertaining the audience. If a bully backstage is more interesting to see as a champion than a non-bully, it makes more sense to hav ethe more entertaining individual in the spotlight.

This is yet another reason why I wish you could just seperate the backstage shit from the show we are given.
Everything happens for a reason, but sometimes the reason is that you're stupid and make bad decisions.

I'm sure someone will smack Orton in the gob if he gets too out of shape. He'll still see the Undertaker four PPVs per year.

This is just somewhere we disagree. His in-ring skills are as bland as can be. He gets on the mic, and is every bit as good as a sleeping pill. He has done nothing to show that he is capable of carrying the main event, but primarily because of his look he keeps getting shoved down our throats.

As for the roids thing, let me clarify where I'm coming from on that. I don't mean "He got busted for 'roids, he can never win the title." What I mean is that as long as WWE is under the microscope it is currently under, and they are being investigated by freaking congress, it's just plain stupid for WWE to put their belt on anyone who has been publicly busted. Want the belt on Randy, Kennedy, Morrison, or any of the rest? Fine, but just wait for a while before doing so.

And the backstage attitude...nowhere near as bad as Hart's? Yes, Hart had an ego, but every main eventer ever did. Bret only refused to job once in his career, it was just turned into a huge deal. Randy, on the other hand...let's see here. He poops in Divas' bags as a prank. He is rude and sometimes aggressive to fans. He has no-showed events, as well as arrived late. And...oh yeah, that's right...he did upwards of $10,000 of damage to a hotel room once. This guy is the Buff Bagwell of this generation. There's a difference between having a bad attitude backstage (a la HBK, or hell, even Batista) and just being a giant black eye for the company.

But the most important point I was trying to make here is that Randy is a mid-carder, and nothing more. If he had the natural appeal of Shawn Michaels or drawing power of someone like Stone Cold, it would be worth the risk of putting the belt on someone who has embarrassed the company so many times. Randy...even if he did come across as a legitimate main eventer, still wouldn't be worth the risk.

Moving on, I think last night I was mainly just frustrated because WWE was given the opportunity to do something unique and interesting, but just wound up going with the same old, same old. I'm not even referring to Chris Jericho, because of course, they might not have even actually signed him, so it wouldn't be their fault if he wasn't there. But how about an unexpected name? For example, let's say they decided to resolve the title situation by having a 20-man battle royal, and then when it gets down to the last two people, convert it to a regular match. And then, let's say it comes down to the final two people: Randy Orton...and Jeff Hardy. We could then get a nice, 20-minute match between the two, Randy staying primarily on the offense throughout the match, with occasional hope spots by Jeff, and then finally at the end, Jeff gets in a quick flurry of offense and shocks the world by winning the title. That would have been something that got people talking, and would have been really interesting. Unfortunately, Stephanie's creative team is incapable of taking risks, ever, and this is what that would be.

It should be noted, I'm not a Jeff Hardy fan. I don't care much for his ring work, and the character annoys me. However, Jeff is over HUGE with the WWE audience, and they would go absolutely insane for it. Now, I don't think he could last as a long term champion. Maybe give him another surprise upset at Cyber Sunday, then have him drop it at the next PPV, which would be Survivor Series. And hell, it doesn't even have to be Jeff in the scenario I created, just someone who is over enough with the crowd that they could have really captured the audience's attention. Instead, they wasted their opportunity to do something really fresh.

I just don't see anything remotely appealing about him. All he has going for him is his last name and his look. Besides that, he's just...dull.

Anyway, gotta say, Raw had a pretty nifty ending this week. The return of Shawn Michaels was a really nice surprise.

I'm with QDQ, I don't know any wrestling fan who doesn't like RKO, except for GLT of course. I don't really see how you can think he's not a main-eventer and only a mid-carder. Ummmmm....he's main evented the past three PPVs. He was main eventing alot last year during Rated RKO. He's the top heel on RAW, he's higher than Umaga, Booker T, Kennedy, etc.... I don't get why you think you ISN'T deserving of the title. I'm still thinking you can't seperate the character of Randy Orton from the real life Randy Orton. Try doing that and maybe you won't be wearing the hate shades all the time.

If there's anyone who has and always be mid-card level, it's Jeff and Matt Hardy.

Oh please. RKO a main eventer? I'm with GLT on this one. The boy is a lump, plain and simple. Except for his signature RKO, he's got dick as far as moves. You honestly think he's better than Matt Hardy?? :wtf: You're smoking some Maryvale crack, imo. Orton has ZERO personality and this dumb bit with him trying to pull off this arrogant tough guy routine last night?

*snore*

Oh, sorry, must have dozed off. :sarcastic: Yeah, it was THAT bad. They should have given the belt to Hunter or Kennedy .......... both deserve it far more and both have way more to offer the fans. Orton sucks toes. :thumbs1:

On a positive note, I was happy to see HBK back, although my dvr stopped taping before he could say anything. :kungfu:
