exactly well said. she had to make misstakes too though, but doesnt every captain? it helps them become better ones and means they are able to do there jobs better. Janeway learnt very qwell from her misstakes.

also she obsessed over the crew. in "endgame" she even gives her life to make sure they get home earlier in the past. she never gave up she was allways looking for other options, even if those options had to be in the future.

Yeah & Capt. Laforge's (Geordi's mom) ship & crew were mysteriously lost, all together. How the hell does that happen?

As far as janeway is concerned. I don't know how good a captain she was, but as a character, she was duller than a sack of wet mice. I rather watch Picard drink tea for half an episode

Oh come on! Voyager had the best captain and the best main characters of all Star Trek series. For once a series where every single character is a personality, not the usual cut-out Starfleet stereotype.

Despite the fact that I do like TOS, TNG and DS9, Voyager was the series where I took an immediate liking to ALL the main characters.
Who'd let that cat in here?

I found DS9 very wooden. dont get me wrong, i love it in its own way, but Voyagers actors were physically better at acting and the characters were also more evolved, with much more room to expand rather than some other series. Authough the earlier point to women captains, there are more bed men captains.

A woman was good enough to run an Enterprise so she couldnt have been that bad, and dont forget what her death caused, a pieace between klingon and federation peoples.

Voyager was a new class, and they got a woman at the helm, meaning they obviouscly saw Janeway as more than an average captain. just cus luck isnt always on their sides doesnt make them bad leaders.

 You took the words for me dear !! I totally agree ! Kate Mulgrew gave to Janeway a class & a strengh which made from her one of the best captain ever in my eyes ! and the rest of the Voyager crew was also one the most gorgeous of them all

The finest and most capable of the lot, if you ask me. No wonder she made it to Admiral before Picard ;)

I found that unfair actually. he has been doing amazing things much longer than her and gets no reconision.

A usualy mission is 5 years, and for the extra two voyager spent away from earth she gets promoted.... its not really too fair. Authough yes, she did deserve it, picard did too.
