I really like Voyager, if anything perhaps even slightly more than TNG. The last couple of series especially were generally outstanding drama with imaginative scripts and brilliant characters, in my view. But a few of the earlier episodes were a bit crap, and a case in point, in my view, is The Q and the Grey. First off - Voyager is visited by something close to an omnipotent being. Yes, old Q has caused trouble in the past, but despite everything, Janeway should go out of her way to be absolutely as tolerant, friendly and diplomatic as possible - after all, Q has the power to destroy Voyager at a moment's thought, or to return them home in an instant. Secondly - Janeway always manages to make Q look like an idiot in their conversations. She always gets the better of him. Despite possessing unimaginable power, Q can't get the upper hand with a human being. This isn't a particular criticism of this episode, but of every Voyager or TNG episode that Q appears in - he's just not a convincing immortal, omnipotent being. Finally - the Voyager crew somehow manage to overcome the victorious side in the Q continuum, and enforce a peace settlement - apparently on the basis that they are wielding Q continuum weapons. I can almost buy the fanciful notion that the humans are provided with an interface to the continuum that they can relate to - civil war period America - but surely any of the Q could collapse their illusion at any time, or simply make them vanish into thin air. It's just stretching credibility too far that mere humans can gain an advantage over the Q in their own continuum. Not a good episode. |

I completely agree Slim. I love the character of Q and this was, to me, just a completely wasteful episode |

I forget the name, but the best q episode of Voy was the one where the rebel q wanted to kill himself, and they had a trial. |

I think "Deathwish" was the Best of all the Q episodes on voyager, "Deathwish" is when the Q or "Quinn" as he calls himself asks to kill himself. and theres a trial with a hippy, Issac Newton and Cmdr. Riker as witnesses. But my favorite part of the episode is that desert road scene where they all look bored. As for Q and the grey, it was okay I guess, but the third Q episode on Voyager Q2, Hilarious

yeah Deathwish was probably the best Voyager's Q episode ! I loved the fist meeting when he asked if it was a walkyrie ship .. and where was Riker .. I loved Q2 as well where Q tried to teach his son how to behave with his powers and he went to aunt Kathy for the job :roflmao: |

"The Q And The Grey" were definitely one of the weaker episodes in seasons 1-3. Q is one of my favorites but his apperances in the Voyager series were a bit weak. My Voyager Episode Guide with ratings of the episodes in seasons 1-3. |
