Did Voyager run out of plot ideas in the early or later seasons? Did it become predictable and unimaginative?

Voyager had ideas?

My problem with Voyager (and I wrote lots of scathing things about it on the AOL Trek boards) is that it's main purpose was to be a product for UPN, one that had to be as seperate from the Movie and DS9 products as humanly possible. So they come up with this contrivence of "being stuck in the Delta Quadrent".

This led to one improbable storyline after another to keep it going. One ship being able to take on the entire Borg Collective? By the end of the series, the Borg had no crebility left.

How many alien races from Voyager can you name off the top of your head without checking back on some trivia board. Not many, really. They just weren't that interesting. Some of them were outright stupid (like the DQ aliens that evolved from dinosaurs. DUMB!)

Too many alternate futures with reset buttons, too many aliens with foam rubber foreheads who were dumb as bricks.
Understanding is a three-edged sword.

Amen to all that mate!
What is the terror of death?
That we die, our work incomplete.
What is the joy of life?
To die knowing our task is done.

more human than Human

Some of the best Voyager episodes were in the 7th season. So I really don't think they ran out of days. A couple of my faves are the one where Doc has to impersonate Janeway and other members of the crew. And of course...Shattered is an awesome episode.
Everything happens for a reason, but sometimes the reason is that you're stupid and make bad decisions.
