NES?????  please dude.  People complain about Windows having the "blue screen of death" but it was Nintendo who perfected that bullshit.  :kungfu:

*blows into NES cartridge*

:p you must have missed the compact second generation "NES deck", that baby works like a dream, (and it's about the size of 3 or so cartrages)
it came out in the early 90s just as the NES was being retired, best redundant purchise I've ever made

(oh and nintendo says blowing into the cartrages doesn't help... it rusts the contacts over time :allteeth: )

My secret weapon was a Smurf toy. Shoved it in there ontop of the cartridge to hold it down just enough.

Fucking NES POS

Heh, I used an old toothbrush.
The Inquisition's here and its here to stay!

Okay, here is the problem: SCHP 30001R

Dont know what that is?
I'll tell you.
Its an old Playstation 2, one of the big bulky
monolith ones that stand proudly in the pictures.
Said monolih has problems though,
Observe:

wikipedia

Owners of early PS2 models purchased from launch until spring 2002 commonly reported faulty optical drives in their consoles. The earliest drives suffered from a constantly misaligning laser lens but later defects were the result of a shift in voltage to the laser itself. The first problem was relatively easy to remedy, but it required opening the machine's casing and tweaking a cog that controlled the lens' distance from the discs it was supposed to read, thus voiding the warranty. This usually did not matter, as in most cases the warranty already had expired by the time such problems began to appear. The second fix involved the use of an oscillator. As time went on, more and more drives began breaking down and a class action lawsuit was filed against Sony. They had the option of either paying the requested fines in damages, or offering free repair and replacements at their discretion.[13] Sony chose the latter and, until February 2005, they honored their agreement. In the UK owners suffering from this flaw must pay Sony £50 (as of spring 2005) to get their machines repaired.

A second lawsuit is being filed against Sony for all of the above, plus claims that defective hardware is damaging media discs. The first hearings were set to commence in April and May, 2005.[14]

As of 2006, Sony is offering exchanges of factory-refurbished consoles for broken out-of-warranty consoles for a charge of US $45.

Fine eh?
I don't got the money to send my PS2 out, or for a new/used one.
I am sitting here with my PS2's guts exposed, and test games surrounding it:

I follow this thing: http://ps2repairs.amenet.co.uk/disk.htm and it gets to a point where it will load blue bottom PS2 disks, CDs and PS1 games, but no DVDs of any kind! and in reverse.

My PS2 sucks!
I dont get to blast Klingin ships in ST Encounters, then watch the jar of dirt and Orly Bloom do the cha-cha!

ARRRG!!!

Haha. I am also having problems with my PS2 lately, well with the memory cards really. It seems that my PS2 wont read either one of my memory cards, I have to blow in them and put them back in a few times for it to read them once. Just goes to show that some of the most advanced gaming machines can get...ild eventually.
Colonel Oniel-"My name is captain James T. Kirk, captain of the starship enterprise."
General-"Well...Mr. Kirk, how did you get into this top secret military base!?" Colonel Oniell-"Alright...I'm going to be honest with you...my name isn't kirk, its Skywalker-Luke Skywalker Jedi knight."

The second generation NES can also play PAL games. (Not sure about games from Japan)

I have a sneaking suspicion that some retailer is going to be offering a PS3 bundle during the Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales. If there is any way that you can take advantage of those sales, it might be worth checking out.

As I understand that the new slim PS3 has had the backward compatibility feature of playing PS2 games removed, I'm gonna hold out for a better price on the previous larger bulky model.

I dont have an open slot on my switchbox for another console, also Im not going to rebuy all the GH/RB/other games I have. I must have backwards compatibility

Well, if there is a particularly good sale you might get a friend in America to ship it to you.
