Star Jones Admits to Gastric Bypass

Star Jones Reynolds admitted in an interview for Glamour Magazine's September Issue that she did indeed have Gastric Bypass Surgery and the reason that she dodged the question for years is because she was "scared of what people might think of me."

This was only the first paragraph from the article that was in Yahoo News this morning.

She had to have the surgery. Had she gotten any bigger, they would have had to call her former show, "The Obstructed View". ;)

 I like the part of the article where she says she didn't reveal it because she was afraid someone would die rushing out and getting it without proper medical advice. Now how would one get major life threatening surgery without talking to a doctor?

and she didn't want publicity. but she wrote a book about losing weight.

When my weight was down to 190 four years ago, my family and friends were worried that I was sick and wasn't telling anyone. The fact was that my Diabetes caused the massive weight loss (from 299 to 190 in a year). Now that I am on Insulin, which causes weight gain (like crazy), I am back to where I look "normal" according to my family.
But while I didn't look healthy, I loved being thin. It was nice to be able to buy clothes from shops other than Omar the Tent Maker. But, in hindsight, I realize that I am better off the way I am now.
I'm sure that both Star and Al Roker (NBC's Today Show Weatherman) feel the same way that I did.
