This was one of those days where you remember where you were and what you were doing when you heard the news. I was cutting my neighbor's lawn when he came out with a beer for me and said, "Hey, did you hear that Elvis died?" My aunt had tickets to see him in Syracuse, NY at the War Memorial but never got to see him there. She still has the tickets. I liked Elvis. I realized that his music and films were an acquired taste, but I liked his overall work.

I was 8 when Elvis died. I remember being at home and hearing my mom crying when she found out. I also remember the day John Lennon died. I was at school in 6th grade when I heard about him. I loved John Lennon. I cried like a baby that day. |

Holy Crap, I live in Syracuse. My Mom had tickets for that same show! She might still have them too what's weird was I think there was some kind of unusually long ban on Elvis, in this town, that had yet to be lifted, until not too long before that My mom was aching to see him, & never did |
