Holy Crap, I live in Syracuse. My Mom had tickets for that same show! She might still have them too

what's weird was I think there was some kind of unusually long ban on Elvis, in this town, that had yet to be lifted, until not too long before that

My mom was aching to see him, & never did

I'm not that far away from you. I live in Seneca County (Southern Zone). I'm almost positive that my aunt saw him in Vegas, but I'm not 100% sure about that. That show in Syracuse was sold out, if I'm not mistaken.

But I remember where I was for a lot of historical passings. I was home with my mother when JFK died. I was getting up for school when RFK and MLK died. I was doing yardwork when Bing Crosby died. I was home sick when 9/11 happened.

  I was just going to post about that.

anyone besides me actually remember the day he died?

I was like 1 month old....but I do remember and it was the saddest day of my life.

I wasn't even a twinkle or an afterthought.

Whoa! Bing died almost two months after Elvis. I didn't know that. I don't remember where I was for that one. I was six

Wasn't alive for JFK, RFK, & MLK. Found out about John Lennon the next day. I was in bed for that one. I was in science class, of all places, during the Challenger explosion. We were all watching it on t.v. That was a really sad day for us, especially for a Trekkie like me

I was at home, & hung over from the previous night's excursion, during 9/11. I wasn't too out of it to realize exactly what was going on though, when that 2nd plane hit. My exact thought was "The dirty fuckers finally did it" & I kinda knew we'd be looking at possible collapse. I'd seen enough fires to know that THAT one wasn't getting put out by anyone

No one could've predicted the total amount of devastation though

I found out about John Lennon from Howard Cosell when he made the announcement during Monday Night Football.
Challenger, I was on my way home from picking my car up at the garage when I heard about it on the radio. I then raced home to watch it on TV. I was at work when Columbia was destroyed.

It shall always be that we will always remember where we were and what we were doing when something historical happens.
