I'm going to get my kids those Jitterbugs in case of emergencies. You can't do crap for fun with them, and their cheap. Of course, by the time our kids are old enough to use a cellphone, implanted communication microchips will be all the rage. |

My kids got their cell phones when they went into middle school, as it's a mile away, and they either walk it or ride their bike home. If something happens where they are running late, or something is happening that isn't "good", I'd rather have a phone on them so they can call 911 if they have too. Now, they all start out with a pay as you go phone. I buy the first 100 minutes for them. AFter that, they have to pay for everything out of their own pocket. They blow their money on other things, their phone doesn't work. After at least a year of showing they're responsible, they join the family plan and can get a better phone IF they pay for it. It's worked well for us, as they don't abuse it and it really comes in handy when out with their friends. |

Mine too I point out that Scarlett didn't get a phone until she was 13 so they can wait too. Thing is I didn't even want to get Scarlett one at that age, that was Damar's doing because he was trying to get in good with her when we first started dating.

No surprise. My teenage sister texts all freaking day long. She texts me when she's bored or sends the stupid chain texts (I ignore most of them). Damned kids. Not that we were angels but geez.

"Would you like to talk about what's bothering you or would you like to break some more furniture?" "My car just hissed at me. There's steam coming out of the engine" "Was it the coffee? Are we gonna go too, just like the captain?" "I know what time it is, I don't need a bloomin' cukoo clock"

Texting is for the birds. It's easier just to call the person. |

My sister brought her boyfriend down to the house a few days after Christmas, so we had dinner one night at home, and the two of them were texting each other, THE WHOLE TIME! People like that deserve this - . That and the fact I truly belives it encourages bad spelling. If I do have to sent a text message, everything is spelt out in good, proper english. It's just the way I am. But I will admit, I am kinda slow at texting. It could take me five minutes to reply, and 45 seconds later I'm reading what looks like a six page monologue! |
