Man boldly robs Colo. store with Star Trek sword

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado police say a man set his phasers to rob when he used a sword modeled after one on the television show "Star Trek" to demand money from two convenience stores.

Investigators say the man took an unknown amount of cash from a 7-Eleven store Wednesday but left empty-handed when he tried to rob another store about 25 minutes later.

Police Lt. David Whitlock says no one was injured.

The StarTrek.com Web site says the double-pointed sword used by the Klingons on "Star Trek" is crescent-shaped and about a yard long. Police did not specify what material it was made of.

No one has been charged in the incident.

Everything happens for a reason, but sometimes the reason is that you're stupid and make bad decisions.

Was he a Klingon? :o

I think you should post this story over at ST.Com and see if anyone acts suspicious. It had to be a Trekkie who collects memoriablia right? :plotting:

Yeah. They don't even mention the word "Bat'leth" in the article.

when I first read "star trek sword" I assumed it was BatLeth...but then was confused why they didn't just say that. So then I started thinking maybe it was Sulu's sword. lol

someone needs to educate them in the finer points of Trekkie geekdom, if this was connected to a Star Wars thing I'm sure they'd have the terminology down and included

But you're right it must have been a Bat'leth by the way they described it. They also said it was a sword used by Klingons.
