if we found a space/nebula-esk theme, it could be modded to allow for maximum viewing of the background, then we just toss a pretty image of a nebula in and I don't think it would be that hard (anyone feel like going through NASA nebula shots? )

Darren, is it possible to put animated gifs as skins? what I have in mind is something similar to the look of the starfield screensaver that comes with Windows. |

and it's a very simple animation, not a large size file at all. |

That would be fun, or you could just find several pretty pictures for banners and doodads and such, and just have background and border things be colors that complement the pictures, like the other skins. |

It should work You just upload the image from the board and then wack the link into the CCS code Can't see any logical reason why you couldn't use a gif for a background at all Next logical step is to find a transparent theme THere used to be one available for IF but it was really slow to load Then again you don't have to use it if loading time is an issue for you do you? |

never tried it, but animated gifs work with every other part of the software, we just just temporarily throw something into a skin to see if it animates and Almighty I think a totally transparent skin wouldn't work that well, I tried to build a skin once for I.F. that had certain portions totally transparent, and it honestly didn't work that well unless it was a background with very limited contrast, something like a starfield would be such a large contrast that it would look like those kind of lame 90s web pages fans would make with like kill your eyes blue on a starfield background where just trying to navigate could destroy your vision if you stayed too long now, if everyone's browsers supported transparency layers, which I think all current browser versions do, then we could do like mostly transparent maybe, with just enough of something behind words and such that there wouldn't be any issue |
