so... Denny, it sounds like you're suggesting we create and launch a Asteroid destroying interstellar thingy, the problem is, NASA can't even fund all the flight they have left, and I doubt they'll be able to load, launch, or even make carrier satellite vehicle to do anything seeing as no one seems to care about space anymore, and no one's funding NASA, and even then, it would take them a few years churn something out :dunno:

Hell, the chosen one managed to drum up 1.5 Trillion (and that was only just in his first month in office) just to pass around to failing companies so they could pay their execs millions in unearned bonuses and to pay for jet-fuel so they could fly in on private jets to Washington to make their case as why they should get bailout money.

But hey....I suppose better that, than actually doing something to save our lives from an inevitable cosmic catastrophe.

Oh wait, now I get it....doing that would save EVERYBODY on the whole planet - why should we invest dollars on something like that? Billions a year in free money and aid to other countries, but no funding available to prevent a true global extinction. Sorry NASA, unless there is anyway where we could do this so as to only protect us?

Well OK, but can we at least keep the Middle East unprotected and let them burn?

You cant expect 110% from others, when most times, they don't expect even 90% from themselves. -- Me.

hey, I'm not disagreeing that money goes towards the wrong things, I'm just pointing out that while NASA is expected to be the leading space agency, the government seems like they couldn't care less and no one else seems to want to give NASA any money either these days, it's really a shame

And why is it that we give away so much free aid to impoverished nations?
What ever happene to "give a man a fish, teach a man to fish"?
Hmmmm, dont even got fish to fish for?
Here's a thought - MOVE - pack up your shit, get out of where you are and migrate to where the fish are.
First gimme my money back.

Well the main reason the rest of the world had or has issues with the US was the arrogance of Bush

I have no problem with spendning money to fix they ecconomy either as they're doing it here as well

People spending money should help ease the pain for business , the catch is you have to actually spend the money in areas that need it otherwise those businesses will still fail

Yeah - hiring Bangalorites and giving them money only for them to send it home and for them to disappear once their work visas run out, is basically just leeching away at us, and is not really doing anyone or anything in this country any good....in fact it makes matters worse as them having a job is taking it away from a local who would empower the local economy.

I say dont give them any more work visas, and ship their asses back home and let them get jobs there to support their families there, and heavily fine and tax businesses into the poor house for outsourcing labor rather than keeping us locals working.

I dont get what the craze is with outsourced labor....so they might work longer hours but they get only half as much done as a red-white-and-blue blood worker would in half the time.

Outsourced labour is a problem here as well

Basically you can pay a Chinese worked about a third of a worker in the US or Oz and get the same or better productivity and make more money.

US and Oz workers want unions and work standards that Asian countries ( i single out Asian countries because that's where the majority of outsourcing is going) don't have to worry about.

Plus you have kids today who simply won't work in a factory making sneakers or a call centre taking complaints about phone service and the like because it's beneath them to work such lowly jobs :sarcastic:

Your damn right we want those things - because unlike other imprisoned and unfree nations, we know there are more important things than what the state tells us or wants us to think. We want guaranteed time off to get to enjoy with our families, we want guaranteed sick leave for when we are ill so that we can see a doctor to get better, we want benefits coverage to help us offset the ridiculous cost of health care and provide it for our families and we want to make sure that our wages go up or at least try to keep up with the rising costs of living that are beyond our control.

We deserve all these things for spending the majority of our time at our job sites, having to deal withe the people that we deal with. If the Chinese want to work 12 hours a day for table scraps, that's their perogative, and its also their fault that the dont know that they being taken advantage of.

One fifth of the population on the planet.....I'm fairly certain they wouldnt have a problem overthrowing their oppressors showed they ever feel compelled to.
