Ok, so have had a chance to play Pirate Galaxy (the one in the ads), and I have to say it's not that bad at all. If you haven't investigated, it's a real-time first-person space blaster, with some cool 3D graphics. You have a choice of blasting around a single planet for energy, crystals and blueprints with which you can upgrade your ship, or going on various missions with consequent risks/rewards. Or you can play in 'pirate' mode, where you can also challenge the other players, and they can challenge you - and they can and will gang up on you !! If your ship gets destroyed, you are quickly returned to the space station, where your ship can be repaired and you can get back into the game. Progression through the levels is rapid, after four hours or so I've made it to Level 7, and got myself a not-too-bad ship with enhancements. When I first started playing the controls didn't seem to want to work, but a bit of tweaking and they're ok now, likewise the camera view. A word of caution, you have a chance to download a 'client'. Don't. It won't make the game any faster, and you can play just as easily from the browser. The game does get a bit slow and jerky when there are many players online, easiest is to log out, wait a while, then log back in again and it's not so bad. I like these kinda games for their sheer mindless mayhem, and I think this is a game I'm gonna enjoy. Overall I'd give it 9/10.

Know what you mean Joy. Used to play GranTorismo, Tetris and Tomb Raider on the PS1, until I came online, now I'm addicted to online gaming. |

I don't even want to go there. I'd never get off this thing. I was additicted to these message boards for the longest time. I could never tear myself away from them. Games would be far worse! |

Yeah, am getting there too. Fortunately I don't gamble, so those games never see me, but I do like some of the games that are doing the rounds at the moment. To be honest, am missing Pirate Galaxy, so don't expect me around too much tomorrow, to make up for today. |
