What I'm waiting for is God of War III, although I only have a PS2 so I doubt I'll get to play it as it'll probably only release for PS3. I'm also very behind the lines with regards to gaming as I dotn really play much, but I was just recently clued in that there is an ACDC song pack release for RockBand, so now I want to get my hands on that as well.....should be fun to play real fake drums to that |

Well, shit, Wishfire has now taken over the arcade. And I am too busy posting nonsense to do anything about it. Times like this, i wish I lived on Bajor where there is 26 hours in a day. |

for my Birthday, the girls bought me the Guitar Hero Smash Hits volume, where they took about 50 combined total tracks from the previous Guitar Hero games and made them able to be played with all the instruments - drums, bass, guitar and vocals. They also got me skull drumhead skins and RockBand: Classic Rock Track pack. |

Empire Universe 2 This brand-new free-to-play MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game) works through the browser, so no downloads to clog-up your hard drive. When you register you'll be asked for a user name, which will identify you throughout the game, then you pass through race/character selection and assigned a planet. Your job is to manage the planet, by mining your available resources which are used to construct your buildings, etc. Since everything (and I mean everything) has to be researched before you can use it, your Research Centre and Resource Facilities form the heart of the game, and upgrading these early on are vital. As you progress, you can add buildings such as a Trading Post where you can buy and sell surplus resources with other players, a Shipyard which is essential for the exploration of space, a Communications Centre to keep in touch with your fleet as well as locating other players in the universe, a Control Centre which keeps track of your progress, a University to train researchers, and a Government Building which you need to collect taxes and to form diplomatic connections. You have a choice; you can start your own Empire and form Alliances with other player's Empires, or become a Member of an existing Empire, or simply go it alone. You also have the opportunity to colonise other planets, to mine asteroids, and also go to war against other players, though a 30-day NOOB protection exists to give new players a chance. This game is played more-or-less in real-time. For example, trivial research can take up to an hour whereas complicated research can literally take days to complete. Constructing buildings can take from a few minutes up to an hour or so, but upgrading them can take several hours. Unfortunately the server isn't sophisticated enough to allow animation, and everything is done through selectable windows. However the game is designed so you can begin a long research or build, for example, close the browser and go away and do other things, and the game will continue happily without you. When you return some time later, it should be completed and you can continue. There is also an online chat facility, where players can interact with each other, and is useful for getting additional help and advice when needed. There are also Moderators to control the chat lines, which can often get a bit heated when discussing controversial topics ! I've never played the Sims game, so I can't make a comparison. But this game is easier to play than it is to describe. If you like the idea of having your own planet, and have the patience to make it work, then give it a go. If you don't like it, you can simply abandon the game. To add a Star Trek flavour, I chose the name Rathov Khan, my planet is Ceti Alpha 6, and my Empire is Star Fleet Command. Overall, a good idea, just have to see how it develops. **** |

If anybody is interested, Hollywood Video put all of their used games priced $24.99 or lower on sale at $4.99 each. This includes PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS games. This sale has been going on for a while, so you probably won't find GTAIV for $4.99 but I did find a few decent games yesterday such as Spider-Man: Friend or Foe and Sega Rally Revo. I also picked up Knight of the Old Republic II for the original Xbox since I never got around to playing that one. This sale might only be happening at Hollywood Video stores without a GameCrazy shop inside but I'm not entirely sure. |

Hmmm - will have to go in tomorrow and take a look to see how may I have that I can replace at that price compared to what Gamestop will give me for them in trade. Buying a game for $5 that another store will give you $10 for is a no brainer. |
