it is actually against zetaboard rules to have a board in a foreign language. I'm guessing because the ads are all geared to english.

I can understand the rule about not having an entire board in a foreign language or characters, but having a few posts in Japanese, for example, shouldn't be disallowed.

no that would be fine.

but it is probably why there is nothing in the board settings allowing for foreign characters.

though I suspect there could be some sort of setting on your end to accomplish it.

The olny way i can see it could be done is to use a translator program , screencap it and then post the pic

A bit convoluted but the only way i can see it done as the board does not recognise foreign charactors such as Japansese

It just comes out as little boxes. On sites that accept it, especially Japanese sites, LOL it works.

I've always thought language should be an impediment to communication and foreign characters will aid in that obsfucation.

 Too much work. I could paint the characters, too except I don't know how. I wanted to be able to use them to start a J language class thread for anyone interested.

Good idea Emile, but you'd have to give the phonetic pronunciation and meaning too, preferably with pictures or diagrams to illustrate the lessons. It seems a lot of work, and would probably take up a lot of board space. I'd suggest finding out if enough members would participate before you begin, or you could be on a hiding to nothing.
