I could never get the hang of algebra, until I got a computer and learned how to program in Basic - which is pure algebra. Now it makes perfect sense, of course.
ooo I took lots of B.A.S.I.C. classes...I used to be damn good at programming. I've forgotten most of it by now
Yeah, me too. I also learned to program in machine code, which was a bitch to learn. Now, I'd be hard pressed to even begin.

Most employers here don't even care about exam results, aslong as you have the experience needed.
nope...most employers just care that you got a diploma
Or a degree.

I was temping at one job, did such a good job at streamlining an existing job, they actually created a brand new job paying £17,000 a year. Naturally I expected to be offered the post, and was dismayed to learn I wasn't even in the running as I didn't have a degree. Thing is, the guy who got the job didn't understand it, and they called me to train him. I told them no, that Mr Degree should be able to figure it out, I'm just a temp !! He couldn't figure it out, so they went back to doing it he hard way. Serves 'em right !!!
well yeah, that's what I mean, a college diploma (degree)

I have a bachelor's of art, even though I always thought it should have been a bachelor of science. My grades weren't all that fantastic but I gradumated and got that piece of paper. Most employers don't even care what your major is unless you're going into a very specific field. Mostly they just want a college degree

I kind of wish I had stuck with it and got a job as a programmer...my mom is a programmer and her salary is in the 6 figures

Yeah, me too. At the time, though, computing was in it's infancy, and games were mostly published in magazines. I wanted to join one of the few software houses, but was under pressure to get a 'proper job'. Man, I wish it had been different. Your mum is lucky, babes.

yeah, she's lucky to have that job, and when I was younger it was NICE. We would take nice vacations to 5 star resorts and stuff...now I have to pay for shit on my own and I don't have any money
