![]() While I do not endorse the PS3 console, a lot of gamers are Sony fans and this new release is certainly worth noting. If the new console has a 120GB drive, is there any reason to buy an 80GB PS3 for the same price? Amazon is currently accepting pre-orders if you want one. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10312144-1.html

How funny! I was planning on going to Best Buy this weekend to finally get a BluRay player. Now I think I'll just wait and go buy this PS3 Slim instead...it comes out on the same day as Guitar Hero 5, so I may as well get that GH5 for PS3 instead of PS2 while I'm at it. |

But then you'll need all new instruments, wont you? At least that's how I understand it |

i don't think so. when I've been looking to buy the JUST the drum set, the box says it's for the PS2 AND the PS3. I'm hoping the guitar works the same way. I think the standard hand controllers for other games work on both systems. |

That would be great if thats the case. I also cant remember which one had teh backwards compatability issues with games - was it PS of XBox360? I heard one of them wont play previous version games - hope its not PS3 because I'd be looking to sell off my PS2 console if and when we got a PS3 but only if all teh GH and RB hardware and software works on the 3 along with it being able to play all my PS2 games - not many, but I'm not rebuying them. |

I heard that the original PS3s were backwards compatible, but later models had that feature removed so they could bring down the price of the unit from the whopping $500 price tag. |

So then the whole enterprise is a rip-off. Its not right that they are forcing people to have to re-buy games that they already get a lot of use and entertainment out of. |

Anybody outside of California wanting a PS3 Slim can get one for a little under $270 shipped after cashback. You have to go to www.bing.com and search for NewEgg. On the right hand side of the search results should be a cashback link to NewEgg and they are currently offering 10% back. Use that link to go to NewEgg and buy your PS3 (or whatever else interests you). Note that you will be billed the full price of the console and Bing will send you 10% back after a few weeks. |
