It seems that there are still a few Best Buy stores with the 80GB PS3 consoles. I checked my local store and they are completely unavailable in my entire district however the stores that do have them are putting them on clearance sale. Here's the actual receipt from a store in North Carolina:![]() As you can see, they lowered the cost of the system to $199.99 and with the gift card the total comes to $249.99. To the best of my knowledge, you can't simply walk out with just the console, you have to get the gift card too. That's okay, you can turn around and use it towards Batman: Arkham Asylum. I cannot stress enough that your mileage may vary with this deal. If your local store has already sold out of the 80GB consoles, then it will never have this offer. |

Wait a second...are they charging you tax on the gift card purchase, and then charge you tax against that value for items you purchase with it? Thats double-dipping. |

I couldn't tell you, that's not my receipt. In fact, I live on the other side of the country and I have no idea what the sales tax rate in North Carolina is. |

I guess when you buy a gift card it's considered a purchase and when people use the gift card that's considered a second purchase, hence you are taxed twice. |

It shouldnt be because then they are taxing you twice - on the purchase for the amount, and then on the items you use it against - effectively getting double the tax on teh same $50, $100, whatever amount. OK, nevermind - called my brother who lives in NC and their sales tax 7.75%, so tax was only charged on the console, not the gift card...as it should be. |
