I would be surprised if it did reach titanic numbers. Titanic had such a wide appeal. Repeat teeny bopper girls and the older "only go to a movie once a decade or so" crowd

I heart that site.
The problem with the adjusted figures is that they are only US domestic

Films like Avatar and Titanic generate more revenue outside the US

Amazing how after all this time, Gone with the Wind is at the very top.

I never saw it once.....nor the Sound of Music at number 3.
Not to mention that with Citizen Kane being one of the most, if not THE most greatest film ever made, and it doesnt even make the list.

Awesome movie..I also see that in 3D..
Well "Avatar" was on the cusp of replacing "Titanic" as the biggest movie of all time after it logged a sixth consecutive weekend as the top choice of moviegoers worldwide, distributor 20th Century Fox said on Sunday.

It's the best worldwide take by a long way

Adusted for inflation only accounts for US sales and as you can see by the figures Avatar took 666 million in the US but 2.3 billion worldwide beating Titanic by around 500 million (almost it's US take) which is staggering

it is. I didn't think it would have as wide appeal as titanic did.

THe other interesting point with Avatar is that it had a high % of 3D sales which are slightly higher priced tickets

Pretty good, essentially 'Dances with Aliens'. Sigourney and James Cameron together always good. Shame they didn't go with the idea of Michael Biehn as the Colonel
