Dude, whatthefuckever!!! It's been called the World Series since the early days of baseball. Just because the rest of the World doesn't participate in the event doesn't mean that it can't go by the name it has been going by for generations. By the way they have something called the World Baseball Classic. Which is a championship series that does include teams from different countries that compete for a championship.

Next time before you make snide commentary, you might want to do some research for yourself and maybe learn something.

Some reading material of the origins of the World Series.

Did you think about that before you made your comment, Thought Not!

Dont care

No other country competes in this so called "world series"

Perhaps some yanks would like to compete in more world sports?

Or did they have to make their own up so they could win something ?

:p

If you don't care you wouldn't have made Snide comments to begin with. Not every country likes the same sports. It really isn't something that was made up just "to win" either.

I find it funny that it's called a world series thats only played in 1 country

If it had a couple more it would qualify

Otherwise it's just stupid

It's like me calling the NRL a world series because a team from NZ plays

But they dont it's still called a National Rugby League

However when they play other countries there is a World Series with teams from all over the world playing.

Same with Soccer (world cup) and Cricket and Rugby Union

I can have an opinion that its a dumb name.

I mean who came up with an idea to call it a world series?

They have something called the World Baseball Classic and the World cup of Baseball. Answered that in a previous posting too.

Technically, it has & can played in two Countries. The US and Canada. Pending the Toronto Blue Jays clinch a playoff berth. There used to be two teams that played on Canadian soil: Montreal Expos (Now, the Washington Nationals) and Toronto Blue Jays whom were World Series champs in 1992 & 1993.

It's not stupid to fans that love and have passions for Baseball and the teams in the MLB.

As for your "opinion" you can put back where it came from. And I don't know of anyone who makes snide remarks about the Sports you like either. At least not recently.

Nothing answered my questions at all

It's not about sports i like or dislike it's about calling something it's clearly not

It's misrepresentation that could get someone sued in any other field

LIke what you like i'm telling you it's not a world series cause it doesnt have any teams from any other countries in it

I gave you an example of a competition with teams from other countries that's not called a world series

I'm sure i can find more if i look hard enough but to be honest i can't be bothered

Maybe next time before you make a snide commentary, you might want to think about who or whom you are saying them to before you go shooting off your fingers about Subjects you don't know anything about.

TV ratings for World Series equal record lowThe Associated Press

6:13 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010

NEW YORK — Television ratings for this year's World Series equaled the lowest ever.

The San Francisco Giants' five-game victory over the Texas Rangers averaged an 8.4 rating and 14 share. That matches the record low of the 2008 Phillies-Rays World Series, which also went five games, with the decisive game suspended then completed two days later because of rain.

The average rating was down 28 percent from the 11.7/19 for last year's Yankees-Phillies series.

The Giants' 3-1 win Monday night on Fox earned an 8.8/14.

San Francisco averaged a 35.3/61 for the series, while Dallas had a 30.9/48.

The series averaged 14.3 million viewers, up 5 percent from 2008, when the country had fewer homes with televisions.

Ratings represent the percentage of all homes with TVs tuned into a program. Shares represent the percentage of all homes with TVs in use at the time.

I figured as much. The Fox blackout had a smidge to do with it.
