So why is it that Basketball and Hockey are the only sports (dont care about non-american sports) that get to play inside a closed venue or domed stadium or whatever - the game itself is not affected by external weather? Baseball and Football have to play when inclement weather is a factor - why doesnt it have to be a factor in Basketball or Hockey? I say that ALL sports stadiums/facilities should be domed or enclosed. Weather should NOT be a factor in the game outcome or game play - how the whether affects the playing surface and conditions is not a measure of the player's/team's talent. Yes, all this stems for the story about some stupid idiot(s) who thought that an ingeniously-designed-on-paper, cloth-roofed football stadium in Minnesota would be able to hold up tons of snow, water and ice without collapsing. |

Football is an outside sport . I loved the few games my High School team played in winter conditions. There is something exciting about a frozen filed it can be slippery or just brutally hard. The Ball is very different at 30 degrees F then it is at 80 degrees F |

I agree that all sports should be inside... But I disagree that Hockey and Basketball are not affected by the weather. Every thing you do is affected by weather... I blame Al Gore for this... |

Football IS an outside sport, but there are also outdoor basketball courts and hockey rinks, so by that logic, those sports should also play in adverse weather conditions as well. When people are getting paid THAT much to play and fans are paying THAT much to go to the games, then outside weather should not be a factor in the progress and outcome of the game. |

Does this mean we have to build giant indoor racetracks for stock-car drivers or huge indoor golf courses for the pros? Football is an American pastime steeped in tradition much like the other major professional sports and part of that is enduring the elements. Physical toughness, sheer force of will, overcoming mother nature. Brett Favre, standing, breath frosty as the snow falls on the hard ground at Lambeau Field. This is a challenging image to an opponent, a obstacle that must be overcome. This is what football is about, competition, passion and heart. They get paid a lot of money, yes, but to do what they love and what we love to watch; so maybe once in a while they put up with a little bad weather and earn that pay and make a memorable night worth watching. |

"Hey dad, I just remembered something from when I was a baby." "Really son? What was it?" "I just remembered I wanted to punch you in the face." "He was a thief, and a terrorist."On the other hand he had a tremendous singing voice." "Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades." "Mom's just worried they're gonna rip my heart out." | |

Since B-ball players sweat bullets onto the floor, I can imagine how that would be outside in cold weather. Maybe a retractable roof option like they have in..wherever the heck is it. In the case of the AF Falcons, the games just wouldn't be the same without the flyovers. |

"Would you like to talk about what's bothering you or would you like to break some more furniture?" "My car just hissed at me. There's steam coming out of the engine" "Was it the coffee? Are we gonna go too, just like the captain?" "I know what time it is, I don't need a bloomin' cukoo clock"

Same goes for Basketball added to the fact that chunkiest part of the season takes place during the dead of winter and like Turbie said that Basketball players sweat a shit ton of bullets that they'd be icicles. The Court would turn into a rink might fast. I've been to a few domed games when the Twins played in the Metrodome and it's not the same. To me watching baseball game under a non-retractable domed roof was like drinking flat soda. I love the balmy summer/fall air rain or shine that makes Baseball much more enjoyable. I don't mind Domed Football. |
