Do You Let Your Pets Sleep With You?

I sometimes let one of my dogs sleep with me, especially when it's cold. I guess he is thinking the same thing. But they get in and out of bed a lot. That really bothers me. They also try to get under the covers and often need help doing so.

Sometimes they do but they really like the comforts of their kennels. They go straight to it by 11PM at night like clockwork.

There another reason why you shouldn't let Ur pets sleep beside you >
Don't sleep with your pet, you may catch something (possibly bubonic plague)

Among the more serious medical problems animal lovers risk by snuggling up to their pets are chagas disease, which can cause life- threatening heart and digestive system disorders.

Cat-scratch disease is another problem. It can come from being licked by infected felines, and can cause lethal damage to the liver, kidney or spleen.
A nine-year-old boy from Arizona even caught the plague because he slept with his flea-infested cat, according to the report. And a 48-year-old man and his wife repeatedly contracted antibiotic-resistant MRSA from their dog because it ‘routinely slept in their bed and frequently licked their faces’, the researchers said.

Cat scratch disease is somewhat common, but i don't know of anyone that that sleeps with cats. Those other diseases, though, are not common at all. Bubonic plague in the US is only present in the South West and still very rare. I think it's a single digit rate a year. Also, dogs on average have a lower concentration of bacteria in their saliva than humans, and almost all veterinarian diseases are not contractible by humans. It seems you have as much or lower risk of contracting a disease with a dog as a human. Lots of people sleep with their dogs; I imagine its easy to find a few isolated cases of sickness and death. Besides, we used to let sheep in the house how bad could it be?

Wow, these articles suggest that you shouldn't even cuddle your animals and should treat them very distantly. What's the point of having a dog at that point?

My cats are strictly indoor cats. I don't believe that I am in any danger of catching anything from them. Yes, two or three snuggle up with my husband & me whenever it is cold. They feel like purring water heaters. It feels good.

Our cats sometimes sleep at the foot of our bed, but they rarely venture closer to us at night
