Should it be classified as a sport? I think the whole stunting thing should be outlawed. My daughter is on her way to cheer camp and they did a few stunts for us before they left. I find one in particular to be very dangerous and now I'm a nervous wreck.

Is she cheerleading or doing dance comp? Some people call it cheerleading when it really seems like dancing. |

No. It's varsity cheer leading. She cheers for the football and basketball teams, then they do cheer leading competitions. It's all the pyramid crap, where they lift the other girls in the air, etc. |

What exactly defines a sport? There are rules to cheer leading and there are winners and losers. What more do you need? Although I don't think dance competitions are considered sports either. It's probably the same thing. |

Bridge is a sport apparently. I think sports were originally martial exercises but that hardly seems relevant anymore. |

A sport is only a sport if you are competing The cheerleaders are cheering for the teams that are competing. They are getting hurt while supporting the other teams. They are not playing their own sport... Their competition comes at the cheerleading events. Cheerleading is very dangerous... And most of what they do maybe should be forbidden. It is harder and more dangerous than most of the sports they cheer for. We have all been at a game and seen a cheer leader get dropped. It's crazy. I would be scared to death if my daughter was doing it. It can be called a sport but the problem is not their game they are receiving their injuries at. So what would happen if it is a sport they would not longer be allowed to cheer except during cheer competitions.

That's my point... They are getting hurt at the games of others not their own competition (well they get hurt there too) If it is made a sport they will soon not be allowed to cheer outside of their own competitions Their main purpose would be changed. But they could solve the problem if they get rid of the dangerous stunts... It's crazy dangerous |
